I booked a return trip for me, my wife and daughter on Nok Air. As I was in a hurry I didn’t pay attention to the insurance fee and extra luggage fee they had furtively sneaked in (yes, I know, stupid!). We all have annual travel insurance, and we won’t take any baggage, as it’s just a day trip to BKK to obtain an affidavit and return home in the afternoon.

I always pay by credit card, but this time (fortunately?) decided to try out their payment through sms pay code option. The booking confirmation says that I have to pay by tomorrow.

I’m wondering now, what happens if play by their same calculating rules, and simply don’t make the payment? Does Nok just cancel the booking or are there any consequences?

You could try and go to "Manage My Booking" on their webiste and see if you can cancel. If not just wait till tomorrow and it will be automatically cancelled if no payment is received. After it's cancelled make a new booking.

I do not think they will be knocking on your door if you do not pay.

I'd already tried both suggestions before posting.

You can't access 'Manage My Booking' until you've actually paid. I had also checked their Terms and Conditions ((http://www.nokair.com/contents/terms_conditions/en-US/index.html), and all it said was "...the booking will be cancelled if you fail to make the payment within the limited timeframe."

However, I was curious to know if anyone has actually done this before.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll just let it expire and book again, paying more attention to the pitfalls next time. smile.png

Yes, I've been through this before. Nok simply cancels the booking if you don't pay by the time/date indicated in the sms. No consequences. Just go through the process again to rebook.

Agree, just let it expire and start again.

I do know that if you call the NOK hotline within one hour of booking on line ('one hour grace period') they will assist if you have accidentally reversed the departure / destination locations.

But you definitely cannot use this 'one hour grace' service to try to change luggage and insurance etc., details.

Been there done that.

Nok Air is a joke. Typical Thai nonsense. Promise much but delivery nothing. No link for ATM or 7-11 payment on their booking page. Englsh language phone number goes to Thai recording. Too bad. I like flying Nok Air, IF I can book a ticket!
