Citreon On Nanai Road

Featured Replies

Just as you turn into Nanai on the left , a white Citreon .

Has been there for years and years left to rot , anyone down that way know why its just been left and never reported / collected ?

Even in LOS though it might have been removed by now , must be heading for 6 or 7 years

A few years ago I was in Dirty Nellies bar right opposite that Citroen. They had no idea who owned the car. Really becoming an eyesore these days, complete wreck.

I seem to remember reading in a PG issues and answers segment that you can report abandoned cars to the Or Bor Tor and they will eventually remove it. Perhaps it is on private property. The article said that if so then the Or Bor Tor can't do anything. It's up to the owner of the property to remove it. Hard to believe a single square inch of Patong has gone to waste.

Firstly it Citroen not Citreon

Secondly, it belongs to the guy who owns the leather shop where it's parked. It was given to him by a farang who left the island but obviously needs a lot of work but he can't find anyone who can fix it. He doesn't want to get rid because it has sentimental value as the farang was a very good friend of his.....allegedly

It's on the public road and is parked the 'wrong way' which is technically a road offence in Thailand. I guess no one has made any complaint about it.

P.S. it's way beyond economic salvage.

So, if a drunk bar girl ran into it one night and killed herself, the guy from the leather shop would go to gaol - right????

I wonder if the annual road tax and insurance has been paid, at 2000 cc it sums up...

It would be some challenge to try and repair it I have often wondered the story behind it

Ideal car for the ropey roads of Patong.

It will still be sat rusting in another 5 years

It may be a tourist attraction by then. :) :)

As an easy going person I wonder why this is of concern to a guest in Thailand?

It is a slow day so for those who don't know what the hell all the fuss is about go to Map.Google and type in 7.894743 98.305217. If you zoom into the green arrow eventually it will switch to street view and viola a circa 1980-ish Citroen GS

Agree it is a wreck and would be impossible to repair by the look of it. Someone has tried to move it as it has some rope tied around a structure at the back of it and that was not there a year or so ago.

Well unless the street view photo is very old. The tail pipe is still chrome, the bumpers are still chrome. People have restored worse!

The pic is an older one and the tailpipe is an "add on". Inside the plastics and upholstery are shot etc etc. I suppose everything is repairable if you want to spend more on it than a new car would cost...........also you can be sure that the hydro-pneumatic suspension would be long gone to ruin.

Yes, the main problem for any sort of renovation would be the pneumatic suspension. Quite specialist equipment, would cost a fortune for Citroen parts.

is that the same car that burst into flames about 4am tomorrow
morning?
