Is There Passport Control/immigration For Paris - London Train?

Featured Replies

I am about to apply for a UK visa for my Thai wife (we've been before twice.) This time I hoped to show her a bit of France which would entail a Schengen visa too.

I had a thought: if I only got a Visa to enter France then took the train to London from Paris, are there any checks on departure/arrival? Would it be possible to enter UK without showing a passport?

last time I used such a train there were Immigration officers on the train that checked all passports, and at the ticket place they did check passports, but that was a long time ago.

Only if you want her banned from entry to the UK>

As Tony points out, with the Juxtaposed Controls when travelling to France, French staff carry out the immigration checks prior to boarding the train at St Pancras, on the return journey there are English IO's based at Gare du Nord to check those seeking to board the train to the UK.

On the trains from Disneyland Paris the British IO's check passengers on the train, at least they did a few years ago.

Hello,

There is also a small prison cell on each Eurostar train that is often used for people who do not have the correct immigration documents, I kid you not.

Take care,

Peter

Was thinking of a trip to UK and Europe this year doing the same sort of thing.

If we land in Europe and the have a few days in UK, do we still have to leave E' from the point we arrived at, ie return to E' and leave.

If we landed in UK and then travelled to E' do we have to return to UK to leave. ?

There is no passport control between Schengen countries, as the UK is not a member of Schengen, passports are checked traveling between the UK and France.

No, you would not need to return to the point of arrival to leave. But of course will need the tickets and visas in advance or the airline will not take you.

Did some searching and came up with the two attachments.

Maybe of help to others.
