.Sadly in Chiang Mai it is the drunken farangs that do not resect the spirit of this festival. Even though there is a ban on alcohol around the moat it doesn't stop em drinking!

How would 95% of them (short term tourists) have any idea of the 'spirit of the festival', all they do is copy the Thais without the cultural knowledge of where certain lines are.

They can hardly be blamed for any of it, can they?
