BANGKOK: -- The Pheu Thai Party will hold a meeting of its MPs on Wednesday before announcing whether it will call for the enactment of an amnesty law, a legal adviser to former PM Thaksin Shinawatra said yesterday.

Noppadol Pattama said the party would definitely come up with a stand on the issue after the meeting. Earlier, a group of Pheu Thai MPs proposed that the House deliberate on Thursday a bill that would grant blanket amnesty to demonstrators.

Noppadol said Thaksin would this year celebrate Songkran in private with his family in an Asian country. Last year, Thaksin visited Cambodia so his supporters could visit him on Songkran Day.

In another development, Rakkecha Chaechai, deputy secretary-general and spokesman of the Office of the Ombudsman, said the ombudsmen would make their decision on a complaint against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung at the end of this month.

In the complaint, Democrat MP Watchara Phethong accuses the two of nonfeasance for failing to strip Thaksin of his police rank after he was convicted and sentenced to two years in jail for abusing his authority over the Ratchadaphisek land case.

A source from the Office of the Ombudsman said Yingluck had informed the office in writing that it was not in her power to strip Thaksin of his police rank, as this power rests with the Royal Thai Police.

Also yesterday, Ombudsman Sriracha Charoenphanit said Ying-luck and the government had until the end of this month to explain why Thaksin's passport had not been revoked. Sriracha said the ombudsmen regarded Thaksin a fugitive, so his passport should be cancelled. The ombudsmen are waiting for an explanation from the government.

Yes, but what's the country's stance on amnesty? All those who did nothing wrong, didn't instigate, didn't abuse the law to achieve their political ends, all those who want to see justice served so tat it doesn't happen again.

I thought PT's stand was perfectly clear on this.

Number one consideration is to get the boss back free.

If they have to include all the yellows and red mushrooms (keep them in the dark and feed them on BS) to try to make it look fair to everyone then so be it.

When they come up with their decision they must keep in mind he has the power to dock their wages if they make the wrong decision.

He'll go for blanket amnesty. He'll have his Red Shirts beat up and intimidate the demonstrators opposing his amnesty. Then he'll say he had nothing to do with this. As usual.

So this announcement comes from Thaksins personal mouthpiece. Why is the mouthpiece making comments concerning Parliamentary matters when he is not a member of that Parliament, could it be yet again that the puppet master has ordered the current maladministration yet again to whitewash him and as a result start another round of civil disorder ? The fact is plain to see that Thaksin the assassin of democracy and truth who no doubt graduated from the ranks of the Thuggi sect is indeed wrapping his throttling cord of the current maladministration which is composed of the P.T.P. (Parasites and Ticks Party) along with their brown nosing acolytes firmly around the throat of the peoples of Thailand in his lust the murder of both democracy and the truth so as he can wallow in his personal quagmire of corruption and theft consoled with the warmness of his absolute power by enlisting the help of his fellow assassins of democracy and the truth to aid him in his sadistic quest

Whoa! But in a much less erudite manner ... +1
