CHON BURI: -- A 66-year-old man drowned off the Pattaya beach Sunday evening, police said. The body of Hans-Peter Hermann Satamminger, 66, was washed ashore and found on the North Pattaya beach at 3 am Monday.

Police said Satamminger's Thai wife, Mala Phudejduan, 35, filed a complaint at the Pattaya police station Sunday night that her husband was washed away by a big wave at 6 pm.

Rescuers tried to search for him for hours but called off the search following heavy rains.

Swiss Resident drowns in waters off North Pattaya Beach
PATTAYA:--The body of a 65 Year old Swiss resident, living in a high-rise condominium in Soi Wongamat in North Pattaya, was found washed up on the beach early on Monday Morning, following a 10 hour search for him by Pattaya Sea Rescue Units.

The body of Mr. Hans Peter Hermann Stamminger was identified by his distraught wife, Khun Malidar aged 35. She explained that on Sunday afternoon she returned to the Sky Beach Condo after playing Tennis with friends and met her Husband in the lobby area. He told his wife that he wanted to go for a swim in the swimming pool at the condominium. She asked him to wait for her and she would run up to their apartment and get changed so they could go and swim together.

No mention of filing a complaint anywhere in the Pattaya one article - it correctly says "reported the incident to Police" which was the right thing to do to get them stating the search.

Swiss Man Dies In Rough Ocean At Wongamat Beach
PATTAYA:--A 65-year-old Swiss man with health problems drowned while swimming in bad weather at Wongamat beach. His body was found many hours later. His Thai wife had told him to wait for her while she changed into a swimsuit, but he went swimming alone.

PATTAYA – April 15, 2013 [PDN]; a report of a foreigner’s body being found floating in the ocean was received by Pol. Maj. Capt. Wattana Pradit , detective officer, Muang pattaya police station, Chonburi.

The incident occurred at Wongamat beach, moo 5, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. Arriving at the scene were police forces and rescuers from Sawangboriboon, Thammasathan, foundation Muang Pattaya.

The body of the victim had been brought to the beach. He was lying on his back,
