Scratchy Finds A Home-A Phuket Feel Good Story

Scratchy is what I named a stray kitten that lived in the vacant house next to me.

Cute enough little guy but I'm just not really a cat person and he would come over meowing looking for food, driving me nuts. I actually at one point grabbed the guy by the scruff and chucked him out as every time he would hear my bike pull in he would come meowing for food...........then I got a squirt bottle of water and soak the little guy to get him to split. Mean old GOM...................didn't feel good about it but what can a guy do (?), stray cat...........I didn't want to adopt.......

Come home from work a few days ago and a 10 or 11 year old Russian girl on a bicycle was playing with Scratchy ! I said, if you can provide a home you can have him. Is it your cat (?) she asked, no, stray I say.

So I go upstairs to get out of the work clothes, look out the window to see my neighbor telling her she can't take his cat !!! Guy has been boozing all day, thinks it's one of his four cats, so I haul ass back out there to tell him (and now somewhat scared little girl)that no, not his cat although it looks like his full grown cat, notice it's a kitten, and yes I'd talked to his Thai wife about the little stray, she didn't want it either.

Little girl whips out cel phone, calls Mom, gets the A-O.K. to bring Scratchy home. She tucks little Scratchy in her shirt and very happy little girl and lucky Scratchy took off on her bicycle.

Thank you little girl and good luck Scratchy !!!

A nice story GOM, but I think the real "feel good story" of the forum today is no road death on Phuket for the last 3 days, and if true, for Phuket, that's quite something.

Not so sure I am comfortable trumpeting the the fact that "no one has died yet"...Four days to go with this. Let's not jinx ourselves; I think it should be like a no-hitter in baseball. [sorry to any who don't get the reference]

Last time there was that horrible crash on Big Buddha Hill on the last day with many Burmese killed.

On the subject of Grumpy Old Men, I spent four hours with my wife and daughter at and around the Mining Monument at Saphan Hin on the 13th -- and didn't get splashed once. I think this is the closest I have ever come to experiencing a miracle. It was like that famous scene in 'Pulp Fiction'.

Perhaps my own GOM force field was perfectly tuned; maybe the kids there didn't want to hit an old man armed only with a condom-clad, large Atchaa.

I guess we have differing opinions of the term "feel good story" NKM, such is life on the forum.

I crossed my fingers while I typed the post, so we shouldn't be "jinxed." :) :)

To me, a "feel good story" is what happened to me two nights ago - but due to forum rules, I am not allowed to post about that. smile.pngsmile.png

Seriously, yes, we are all different and have different views, opinions, knowledge and experiences. As a result, we all post differently. That's what makes the forum interesting.

I'm sure Scratchy is doing just fine. smile.png
