BOI expects investment in the nation to reach one trillion baht by 2008

The Secretariat of the Board of Investment of Thailand, Mr. Sathit Sirirangkamanon (สาธิต ศิริรังคมานนท์), is certain that investment in the nation will reach one trillion baht by 2008.

Mr. Sathit summed up the investment that is expected to occur between 2005 -2008, stating that in 2005, the investment value in Thailand reached 700 billion baht, and he expects this amount to increase to one trillion baht in 2008. Agriculture, fashion, automobiles, electronics, basic enterprises, logistics, and public utility are popular avenues of investment at present.

The BOI Secretariat stated that in basic enterprises, public utility, and logistics alone, investment was valued at 1.7 billion baht. He added that the BOI will push for greater investment in other sectors as well, electronics, automobiles, and rubber being prime targets, and netting Thailand 7.5 million dollars in export last year.

Mr. Sathit concluded that from January to February of this year, total investment was valued at 20 billion baht.

There is a constant in the thai official speeches : something with... a maoist touch.

Yes, we can definitly see a filiation between them....

They love to throw big numbers... It's always "MORE" : millions, billions, trillons...

It's a race to "MORE". With some very important symbolic steps.

Instead to say : "we forecast a 30 % increase", they would prefer to say "we will achieve the trillon".

Mai pen rai. 2008 it's far away.
