There have been no reports of Vientiane ever asking for ticket out or financial proof.

Is this still the case? Has anyone ever been asked for these things?

Sorry have not been following this thread for while. All photo copying will and can be done by the guy up the top of the stairs on the left hand side of the main building where you apply. Just give him all of your papers with your passport and he will photo copy everything in the correct order, staple it all together with your ticket queue number and hand it all back to you all for about 3,000 kip! Easy as pie.

See here for latest reports by members: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/189375-latest-reports-of-getting-a-visa-in-the-region/. For what will happen tomorrow or on your intended date of application for a visa, you may be able to get advice from a fortune teller. The general rules for financial proof on the MFA website have remained unchanged for most visa types for many years, as far as I can remember.
