BANGKOK: -- Korkaew Pikulthong, a Pheu Thai MP and red-shirt leader, refused yesterday to apologise to the Constitutional Court, saying it was unclear which law the Criminal Court applied in ruling that he had failed to show remorse.

Korkaew, who won temporary release due to his parliamentary immunity while the House was in session, said he would consult with his attorney Jessada Chandee about submitting another bail request.

The Criminal Court sent him back to jail on Monday as the House had adjourned for recess.

Korkaew said he slept well last night and would be stuck in his cell until the House reconvenes.

On Monday, the court found no grounds for granting bail saying there has been no clear evidence to the court that the Korkaew regrets violation of the previous bail conditions, nor has he done anything to rehabilitate the negative consequences of his conduct.

IMO they have to change the law here

Giving MP's parliamentary immunity is giving them a license to do whatever they please

They should be accountable for their actions just like every other Somchai and Somchita.

Politicians are up to their necks in all sorts of things at the beat of times and this immunity status just makes things worse. I wonder too if his stauts within PTP and the red shirts added to a belief of being " untouchable ". If it wasn't so serious it would be funny when we consider the names he produced to guarantee his god behaviour. Thai politicians really do live in their own little world.

If only Thai politicians really did live in their own little world....... not just one of them.

"Korkaew .....refused yesterday to apologise to the Constitutional Court" and stayed in gaol. The question is whether he is too stupid to understand that what he did was wrong, or if he thinks an apology would upset his boss. He should be allowed plenty of time to contemplate his actions and consider his options.

And his reason is he can't be charged is because legally he can't find a ruling that says he has not been repentant,

How about an I am truly sorry for what I have done and it was wrong.

There are some people who's name is synonymous with scum.

Not saying any thing just a thought.whistling.gif

Problem here K. LL is that they (Korkeaw) actually KNOW that they can do as they please as you have stated.

Laws will not be changed simply because it is NOT to their advantage. Much to everyone elses dismay. Mores the pity.

I suspect you worded that wrong Dap.

Try: Laws will only be changed if it is to their advantage.

What a fool as well as a crim this Korkaew is every time we hear something of him he is making a bigger idiot of himself.

Hay where is his good friend Mutt to defend him?

As for the law, parliamentary immunity is embedded in the Constitution and 1997 and 2007 version don't really differ in that aspect. The 2007 has three articles put into one.

For 1997 see article 165, 166 and 167, for 2007 see article 131
