Featured Replies

Hi!

Looking to obtain a USB powered monitor for a project. Does anyone know if such a thing can be bought in Chiang Mai ?

Amazon have this one, but Google doesn't seem to be my friend I don't seem to be able to find any similar ones on the net in the CM region.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

what's the use for such a thing?

I have one, fits in my bag with the laptop, extra screen real-estate on the move, best thing I've bought for years smile.png

Unfortunately for our OP I got it in Singapore sad.png

AOC do have a Thai site http://www.aocmonitorap.com/root/th/ hopefully they will be able to point you to a distributor.

Crossy, where did you purchase it from in Singapore and what was the local price there?

One down from the top floor of Sim Lim Square, S$148 IIRC for the 16" model.

"Fortunate" for you, at least - and it sounds quite reasonably priced, too - In Singapore. I got the wife to look at your link and she's sent an email off to the company, to enquire. When/If I hear something, I'll post back.

Thanks for the good info!

Thanks.

Bell on the 5th floor have it at SG149 or SG239 for the 21.5" model.

More expensive then Amazon but not outrageously so.

Also at Bizgram on the same floor for slightly less.

Hrmmph!......the email got returned (undeliverable).....

However, we'd also sent another email to a distributor (or agent, maybe) and got a very polite phone call, where they said they didn't have such monitors (in Thailand), but suggested looking at any computer store that I happened to be near, as there was always a possibility of a store having a USB monitor of one sort or another.

Anyway, thanks for the replies - I'll be off to CM next week to have a look around and see what I can find.

At the same time I'll be looking for any LARGE tablets (i.e. 13'' screen, or more) that are not too expensive - so if you guys know of any (in CM), then please do let me know. However, I rather suspect that they're only available in the US and Europe at the moment.

Cheers

hmmm.... you use it for displaying stuff to prospects and customers?

I can imagine it's a nice sales prop, gives a much better feeling than sharing a display and lets you operate the laptop without interfering with the customer or vice-versa

Is this what you are after my friend google found it here in Bangkok - http://www.weloveplaza.com/99977/AOC-E1649FWU-16-inch-USB-Powered-Portable-LED-Monitor-Glossy-Black.html

Whahey! Thanks to your friendly Google mate for that one. Mind you, I still have to go to CM next week - and if I don't find anything there, then I'll get the wife to check out your link. Maybe they can send one from Bangkok.

Thanks a big heap!

Actually it gets used mostly as a desktop extension, really handy to display one or two documents whilst working on a third, I find it increases productivity significantly (and I can have the cricket on without disturbing my work space).

I have three 22" monitors on my desktop at home, once you've used multiple monitors it's difficult to work on a single monitor system.
