Liverpool F.c.

Pointless relying on our defense to win us the game, and we will need to score a few goals as city will probably score a few themselves. I think we should just play like we have been playing and boll@cks to them. It will show us whether we have the players to beat top teams with this style of football. Personally I think we are getting close, though I don't know we are good enough yet.

Liverpool are a steadily improving team which is obvious but this game will give you a real indication of where you are in terms of top four.

Rodgers still has to strengthen the squad obviously but happy days on merseyside in general, with an improving Everton aswell.

Henderson is really coming on leaps and bounds, seems to have stepped up to the plate.

I'm going to get crucified for this, but MERRY CHRISTMAS anyway!!

  1. Leave Gerrard out. IMO he's now a great dead ball specialist, but otherwise his final ball isn't that great.
  2. Henderson has blossomed immensely, because there's no Gerrard in the team.
  3. Leave the old guard at home, don't take them to the WC (not just Liverpool related)

Funny, i agree with you about leaving the old guard at home bar one and that one would be Gerrard!

If Lampard goes at his age what a indictment that would be on the state of English football.

Thoughts on whether we will try and outplay City on Boxing day or try a keep it a little bit tighter?

I say a 'little bit tighter' as I can never see Brendan sitting back. Difficult one, I hope we can sure up at the back whilst causing them problems going forward.

Thoughts?

YB

Your not going to outplay City at the Etihad so probaly best to keep it tight and hope Suarez has another good day.

You make valid points. Gerrard is still an integral part of this team, but you can see the pace and fluidity of the attack with Hendo in the middle. At the same time Gerrard has made a magnificent contribution to our goals this season. Not easy...

No, just looking at City's home record and your record against anyone in the top 6.

Didn't miss much laddie. Someone advertised tits (now a deleted post) underneath your pathetic ITK offering regarding a January transfer...hence the use of that word. You are the tit, not the B***endbiggrin.png . As to Suarez, he is one of the best three players in the world so it doesn't take too many O levels to work out his performances are integral to our current form. As was Bale to the Spuds, Rooney is to Manure, Ozil to Arse and Aguero to MC and so on......Don't remember him saving the penalty against Stoke though, or scoring the winner against Manuretongue.png

It doesn't take ANY O levels to make your point without embarrassingly chlidish name-calling...

I hope he stays, as he's always good for PL drama, but if you don't make the Champions League this season he'll be off for sure.

, "but if you don't make the Champions League this season he'll be off for sure."

So he isn't going in Jan then...make your mind up son! Still a tit and approaching b***end status. (sorry Mr BJ)

Havent looked at who you follow, and don't particularly care, but do us all a favour and stop spouting the usual crap about Luis on our thread. Its been done before and its very boring. If I want to read <deleted> like that I'll go on the Daily Fail website. Kao chai mai?

Yes he'd have hardly signed a new deal last week if he was intending to go next week!!!

Thing for me is realistically LFC know if they don't get CL next season he's going to want to go, especially at this stage in his career but he has also given LFC greater value to his sale by penning a contract.

All quite amusing really as LFC are looking more and more likely to get in the top four

Fully understand the reasons for keeping Gerrard, after all he did turn down other clubs and has what so far.....one medal? A real kop hero and deservedly so, loyal to the end........but everyone's career starts to dive at some point.

For me Henderson has transformed amazingly without Gerrard, it could be coincidence or it could be that he's simply stepped up to the plate. Either way, I think he will become some player, good news for England too. thumbsup.gif

Apparently his clause is 100M to a foreign club and 130M to EPL club. So whoever fancies stumping up can have him. We'll have more money in our transfer kitty than your little club is worth wink.png

I think you've been reading too many tabloids.

More likely he has a release clause for if the Mickey Mousers fail to make the Champs League.

After 2 1/2 years at the club and costing 20m shouldn't he already be some player ?

Now then don't be logical.wink.png

Maybe he's been 'shackled' and is now free? All I know if he continues like he has been playing then that 20 Mil is going to start looking cheap

I have to disagree, I think if we loose at City it doesn't say we are behind the other top four clubs, it wouldn't surprise me if every team that finished in the top 4 will also loose at the Etihad this year, some by 3/4 goals too.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Thinking about this a bit more I think if we get any kind of result then obviously a big result and a real statement from us but if we don't still think what I said above.
