I did the timing myself not easy that's why I put about, one hand on the wheel eye's on the road & speedo with finger's poking about on the stop watch part of my watch and I came up with 19sec but I had to change from 3 to 4. 12.5 for the 80/120 on the tuna untuned.

If anyone would like to have a go it might make for some interesting figures.

Oh and it wasn't a truck load of Leo it was Tiger. Oh nearly forgot that last bit was a 'JOKE' peep's might not get the joke bit as M/D deleted it.

That puts images in my head of you, one hand on the gear shift, a stop watch in the other and the steering wheel held by your knees, both eyes looking in the rear view mirror lest the Tiger should become unstable and fall off the back, you've acclimatised well to driving in Thailand and will fit in very nicely. biggrin.png

But more seriously, your numbers may be right I don't know, these days I don't thirst for power and speed any more, I'm just happy if I can get away at the light without a queue of cars behind me all honking away for me to get out of the way - if I can hold my own against those around me, I'm happy.

If the OP is concerned about resale value, a 2013 Vigo may not be as good as expected after the new Hilux is on the market. Not far away if IMHO is correct about the timing of the major change in late 2014.

If the rumors leaking about what Mitsu, Nissan and Toyota are working on for the next gen is all true, it's going to almost redefine the segment (especially diesel hybrid drivetrains, all but confirmed for Mitsu and rumored for the others), so we could see all current models from all brands being being considered 'outdated', thus resale impacted across the board.

We will have to wait and see if hybrid drivetrains make an appearance in the next generation Mitsu, Toyota and Nissan pickups in LOS. If and when they do, pricing may be above the current market top end (like the Camry Hybrid was). That might reduce the impact on resale value of the Dmax / Colorado and Ranger / BT50.

Just thought Id give the board an update and thank everyone for their input...this being my first O/P it has been quite an enjoyable experience especially the posts that go slightly off at a tangent but still humourous none the less....

Finally decided upon the 3.0L TOYOTA MICA BLACK A/T (Not 50th Anniversary) with a few added bells and whistles though not a lot....I know, as mentioned previously, the Mica Black colour isn't perceived as always being the "best" option here in LOS for one reason or another but am sure with a lot of TLC everything will be OK......."famous last words" I can hear from the back!

Again thanks to all and if there are any further hints/tips for receiving new pickup these would again be greatly appreciated....wai.gif

Good luck with the Hilux. Keep the nice shiny black paint out of the sun if you want it to stay looking good for more than a few years.

Just over a month Ive been told, they did have White and Silver in the showroom but I preferred the black.....I should have pointed out that had the NEW Ford Ranger been in stock / short waiting times then things mightened have turned out as they have as this looks to be an excellent new pickup and ive only heard good reports about this but am more than happy with this choice and look forward to driving this top speed - at approx 15KPH in the downtown traffic.....rolleyes.gif

yes not a pretty sight I did it on a very strate bit of the 1 not a car in sight I like you dont thirst for power just like to get passed thing's sharpish that's why the 80/120 is improtant to me I can now pull away from the crazy coaches/mini bus's that sit up your bum at 120+ and won't go away. I know peep's po,po the time's but I don't think I was far out as I did the runs twice on both car & pick up's

Well, there's zero doubt the Toyota 3.0L is better engine than the Ford 2.2L, so take some comfort in that while your respraying the interior to a different color :P

J/K - Congrats on the purchase :)

Are you talking about the vans/minibuses? With regards to regular buses, they hardly if ever get above 110 kph, but mostly stay around 90/100 kph. When they get over that speed is when you have those accidents the newspapers are filled with.
If you travel up the 1/32 north of BKK you will see them and believe me 120 is slow for them mini/van's buses 140kmph most of the time 120+ for large buses I did a trip to BKK last monday using the 32 and there were thousand's of the buggers they tend to slow a bit near BKK. give it a try some time.

Many years ago I saw a 34 Ford in base yellow, wow. But yes, a colour for a particular shape is difficult to decide. Good luck. thumbsup.gif

Is there a metallic black? or is that the same as mica?

Mica is different, the ''metal'' bits are a different shape to that used in metalic. Sooooo a softer reflection.

I want something different then, something that sparkles, but does not look gay.

Any ideas?

Think gay and sparkly go together. laugh.png Google metallic paint job photos, same for mica. My Vigo is dark blue mica, NOT black. biggrin.png

Mate just picked up his new TRD Sportivo 4 door 2.5L auto in white. I noticed it was the E spec, do they do J/G?. Anyway he asked me to show him how to operate the trip computer on the dashboard. I looked at it and said "you have not got a computer, that's a clock". He 's a bit miffed after forking out a fair wedge for his new passion wagon. Sent from my i-mobile IQ 2 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

He'll be even more miffed when he find's out the 2.5 is at best a slug.

I'm well pleased with the performance of my 2.5 Sportivo, anyone who thinks it's a slug has either never driven one or expects performance similar to an F1!

I'm just comparing it to the 2.5 4x4 Manual Vigo I had for over 6 month's but with an auto box it will be slower. Pottering around town it was fine even with a load on, but on hill's or if I wanted to get past something sharpish it was a no no. If I remember right from 80 kmph to 120 it took well over 19 sec: not loaded and that was pushing it

I now have a 3lt Fortuner auto and I thought that needed some extra power so have had it tweeked it now produces well over 240bhp never use the full power but it's there if I want.

N/B not even pushing the tuna it will do the 80/120 around 7 sec. I like to get passed thing's quick so it could be me.

so were you in 5th gear going 80-120 will have a look see tomorrow on the drive from Udon to Pattaya, just don't sound right to me well over 19 seconds??? would that be 20 seconds???

Posted

Used 3/4th had to change between the two.

My stop watch went over the 19sec could have been more than 20 but only just but for sure not under.

On My own no load up. flat road. 1/2 tank + of fuel.
