A lot of alcoholics do not abuse their children; neglect them maybe, but not necessarily abuse them. Alcoholism is treatable and alcohol is not usually against the law.

Most pedophiles abuse children (those that don't are unlikely to ever be identified by the criminal system). Treating pedophiles has had very, very limited success.

I think we can dispense with some of the more OTT comparisons and stick to the topic.

As much as despise his deeds, I am almost as much disgusted by all these "kill him and castrate him", "castrate him and then kill him"...or whatever posts.

Pedophiles are mentally sick.

You don't wake up one morning and say "Oh...it is such a nice day...I think, I am going to FXXX a 10 year old!"

It is as little a choice as is homosexuality, heterosexuality, necrophilia or what ever you can think of.

If you are going on to ask for pedophiles to be killed...ask yourself: where would you stop? What is acceptable to you?

Pedophilia? Rape?

Okay...now what about your neighbor?

We know, that in Thailand (f.e.) rape and pedophilia are obviously much more "okay" than in "the west".

Do I say that is good? Hell, no!

But there are countries, where homosexuality is seen as the most evil and despicable thing to do...so...they are going to kill some gays instead...and that would be...okay?

Pedophiles are sick and they need help.

Do they need to be punished for what they do?

Yes, absolutely!

have a look at this...and try to get a grip!

Let the sh1t-storm begin...

OK a pedophiles sexual preference is children .... Think about your own sexual preference , what would make you change that ..... I rest my case ....

As a former investigator I have interviewed quite a few of these people and I have watched them go through the justice system , punishment does not cure them, a doctor can not cure them. They must be removed from society .... And placed somewhere , where they can never hurt another child again .... If we fail to do that we fail to protect the children .....

We also fail to protect children from abusive parents from time to time. I guess, rounding up alcoholic fathers or mothers and killing them, would be okay too?!

The man bb1955 has got a good point Doc.smile.png

Not saying he hasn't!

But I am always amazed, how easy "we" want to put pedophiles to death and how graciously "we" forget, that thousands of kids suffer "normal" abuse.

Compared to that, pedophilia is a laughable problem (and I am NOT saying, it shouldn't be dealt with...)

When I say "laughable", I mean the "quantity"...

Before pointing my finger, I would like to wait and see what happens with this story. Something wrong to me but if this is the truth, no mercy.

Mr. Mah Nle Belly is NOT a Belgian name at all.

It could be a French or English family name as the name exists in both countries but derives from the French word belle

The suspect was found to have molested other victims on a previous visit. To Thailand? Then why did they let him in again???

Oh for five cents people, read the entire story before posting.

It says right there in the story that on his previous visit he was arrested and fined but was given a full pardon when he announced he would buy candy and beer for the entire police department. Upon hearing this they threw him a party and told him to return next year (this year).

So please read the full story so you do not have to ask a silly question

Don't get hung up on the spelling. It's spelt 3 different ways in 3 different news stories, eg.

Mr. Baillie

Mr. MANOEL BAILLY

Mr. Chinle Belly

btw, the Belgian has already admitted and confessed to the offense of molesting the two boys.

Its Manoël Bailly have a look at his facebook page

http://www.facebook.com/manoel.bailly

Thanks for the confirmation that's he definitely Belgian.

More than a few disturbing photos in his Facebook pages, eg.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1096459446441&set=pb.1075249709.-2207520000.1367149264.&type=3&theater

Wonder how many of his friends will "un-friend" him.

Call it nonsense but a grown man with teddy bears on his shorts is a red flag to me.

I'm sure there was a suspected pedo with teddy bear board shorts on here about a year ago. Is it a uniform or club badge?

Posted

Some posters seem to be a little too concerned with what he is wearing.

Perhaps you could report him to the Fashion Police, once he's out of jail.

I think they look quite good. I'm going to have to find me some teddy-bear board shorts.

While you're at it, get a pink blanket with bear and clown prints on it - like the one he has wrapped around him in one of the pics.

BTW he creeps me out as a clown ... Gacy comes to mind.

Haha,,, I've seen his Facebook photos. He's on the Fashion Police "extreme prejudice" list.

There were a couple of Australian clowns that got done some time ago for this, cannot remember their names though now.

Na . . . wouldn't want anyone to think that I'm a pedophile now would I!

I digress, what can you do with these pervs. I dare not post my thoughts, though someone will say he had a dodgy childhood. Many of us did but thats where it ends. sad.png

I'd say that some here can't see the effects of a "dodgy" childhood on themselves either?

I have watched this documentary (excellent !) in stunned silence, since the ONE thing I was desperately looking for was the expression of compassion for the VICTIMS . . . . .

These convicted sex-offenders are frustrated because they are simply being "warehoused" in extremely pleasant surrounding; able to play any kind of sport; singing; cooking etc.

However; the vast majority of the VICTIMS are not that fortunate: their lives are scarred forever; THEY will not be able to have "normal" relationships; hence they have been dealt a life-sentence, without having done anything wrong . . . . .

The only "good" thing in this entire matter is that there is Karma !

Yes there is karma so think about that for a min. ok. It does flow both ways

I hope he will do the first 2 years waiting his trial in Thailand.

This is where the Thai system is better then the European.

irrespective if he is guilty?.

The fact that he was found guilty on previous visits yet was free to come here and do it again? Is that also better the other systems?

Though extermination may brought here that would be easier then life. We just need to stop making prisons anymore comfortable, at least that's true in the US.

Comprehension FAIL.

The father of the victim showed police the money that the Belgian gave to the 2 boys for evidence to be used in prosecuting him. When other children in the area knew about this matter, they told their parents that the same foreigner last year had done obscenities to them. So many parents came to notify the police.

Where does it say that he was previously convicted?

I am disgusted and condemn child abuse as much as anyone of you does.

BUT I think it is inappropriate to publish a photo of a suspect before there is any evidence!

Imagine someone just publishes a photo of a person he does not like and makes up a story, that could easily lead to threatening and violence against that person.

Its easy enough to be opinionated regarding such matters but how can anyone possibly be in a position to comment on such matters until ( god help them it never happens) their children are either abused or molested in which case you would see it in a different light.Furthermore as a parent myself I can honestly say that I find it highly unlikely that any parent would have any sympathy for any such offender (be it a sickness or not as you say) and that they would probabally be reaching for the nearest lynching rope as I would myself. End of.

The cushy surroundings and the cost of $200,000 dollars a year provide a valuable insight as to what is happening: the public is being fleeced!. The irony is that politicians benefit from this kind of micky mouse justice because, naturally hearing stories of overspending makes people more angry at pedophiles. But why spend 200k when 10-20k will do the job? Clearly because the politician gains support for having "done more", people get attached to those jobs, the unions that supply those jobs are addicted to power and the wealthy prison owners come to expect those grants. and liberals are silenced because they cant argue conservatives are overreacting and too tough. ..... is anyone confused? about what???? Get a clue the prison industry LOVES pervs! Thats why child porn is so prevalent on the web! Go look and click on the skinny girls. They get younger and younger in a hurry.

What are you talking about?? Who is getting $200K a year? The Thai prisons are owned by the govt. Please enlighten me as to why the prison industry loves Pervs? I have always heard Pervs get the hell beaten out of them. How do you know Child porn is so prevalent on the web?? and the that girls are getting younger and younger, sounds like you have some hidden desires..

I don't understand the sentence "The suspect was found to have molested other victims on a previous visit."

Does this mean he has previously been accused, charged or convicted of a similar offense in Thailand?

Something about this whole story does not seem right to me , it's just a feeling I get that there is more to this than meets the eye.

Let's not forget that until we know more, this man is innocent until proven guilty and deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt

So often (mis)quoted. The rule is, presumed (not "is") innocent until proven guilty. This applies to the legal system. Not necessarily to everyone else. I of course agree with the principle that everyone is entitled to his day in court. But judges & courts definitely are NOT infallible, either when it comes to accurately finding guilt OR innocence. The phrase means (in the US anyway) that one cannot be deprived of his liberty or property without due process (except when the govt legislates otherwise I guess); and that's as it should be. It DOESN'T mean however that someone who knows better, not hampered by legal technicality, prosecutorial caprice, the size of a defendent's wallet, political influence, and social pressure (such as a screaming mob), can't believe the accused to be guilty just because a court said otherwise, or even in advance of a court finding. There's just not (ordinarily) much he can (legally) do about it. Take the President (of the US). HE'S certainly entitled to disagree! The only difference between him and the rest of us slobs is that HE can pardon a criminal, lawfully convicted and known to be guilty of the crime, while the rest of us can only gnash our teeth.

When it comes to Thai justice (or perhaps to varying degrees in any country), I don't really think it's rational to expect all the facts to be published in a press release. The media's agenda in this day & age is to drum up & sustain reader/'listener/viewer interest (some would say 'frenzy'), not to present the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but... BIG difference.
