Sub-Miniature Cooling Fan For V G A Card

Featured Replies

I have a VGA board that has developed a noisy cooling fan and usually that means it will eventually crater. Has anyone seen the smaller 12V fans with 3-point screw fixing around Panthip? The fans are normally mounted integral with the heat-sink but are removable and replaceable without replacing the whole assembly. I saw some mounted on second-hand VGA boards that were going for around 400 baht complete at a computer recyclers shop up here in Udon Thani but reckoned that was too expensive for a used fan and an unusable board.

Rather then a fan replacement it may be easier to find a cooler upgrade package for the card and install it in place of the whole assy. They don't cost that much - just take the card into the shops and get one that fits.

Those little fans have the lifespan just a bit longer than a fruit fly. A silent cooler per suggestion would be better, but do consider a replacement for the graphics card. A GT640 (Kepler) w/2GB of DDR3 is only 2520 at JIB, and is a lot of bang for the buck.

Yes, but these add-on cooler packages would defeat the concept of my ultra-compact micro ATX build PC.

I have priced the fans at around a couple of quid on Amazon UK and a bit cheaper on eBay UK so probably will order a couple and collect them when I am home.

Now THAT is really thinking (and positioning) outside the box!

Did you have a look on Aliexpress ? What's available on Ebay is mostly also available on Aliexpress and probably cheaper to ship to Thailand.

Drag a picture of the Ebay item into Google images.

Good tip... if I am buying in bulk. I will be in the UK next week so have ordered a couple online for delivery there.
