That's a good question. My wife and I happened to be walking by there today about noon on Suk Soi 31, and the place was closed then, and looked like it might be closed period. Although that soi also was having some kind of water outage today for some reason.

There was a Facebook comment sometime back by one of the people involved there talking about them working on their "new stadium" and suggesting people go to the Kiwi Pub on Soi 8 to watch games....

So, I'm not sure what's become of the Soi 31 place, although its useless website is still up. I always wondered how they could make a go of it there so relatively far off the beaten path and distant from the BTS.

One of the principals there has a member ID here on ThaiVisa, but shows a last active date of early February.

It has been closed for quite some time, maybe as much as a year.

I don't have anything to do with that place, nor do I know anything of the former owners.

But based solely on appearances, and having eating there a time or two long back, I'd say the owners certainly would have spent a lot of money to fit out that location as they did. It wasn't open for that long, in terms of years. And now it's just an empty space sitting there.

Whenever I see things like that, I always wonder what happens with the owners and how they can see their investment seemingly just vanish like that.

I've seen a fair number of these over the years, and the common reason rumored is this is one easy way to launder money. They use front-men, and all the expenses - which might look significant to you and me - are a tiny fraction of the funds which can be processed. I freely admit that these are just rumors which I have heard.

This below is a general observation, and not meant in regards to the former Home Run Bar...

There do seem to be a lot of rumors of that kind of activity in the Sukhumvit area relating to farang-run restaurant/bar businesses. The general version seems to involve proceeds from boiler room financial scams.

With a variety of places around town, just based on observation of customers and levels of business, it's hard to understand how they manage to remain in business -- when they do.
