For some reason of late, never happened before, when I click on google search it takes me to the Espanola site and its all in...well spanish.

I have tried to find where to fix this, but to no avail, anyone know how to get back to english as the primary site when first clicked upon?

http://www.google.com/ncr might be what you are looking for ..

Why would I want that? It goes to the spanish site, I already got that.

If that link still takes you to the Spanish site your computer thinks it is in Spain.

It did.

How do I stop it thinking that.

Everything else is in English.

I sometimes fantasise about spain.

Hope my computer is not smarter than me.

Which version of Windows and which browser are you using?

Some people shouldn't be allowed to use computers. rolleyes.gif

There is this thread on google groups. http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/websearch/Cxjsi1lnd0c[1-25-false]

The short version would be to create a google account (free) and keep it logged in. Now you can set the language easily. The long version is that you should probably clean your browser out. Simplest method would be to install CCleaner and run that.

Did you click the "Like" button by mistake?

In which case, point proved! biggrin.png

OK, now let me try to be helpful.

In XP, go to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options.

Under the Regional Options tab, set the "Standards and formats" to English.

Under "Location", set the location to UK or USA.

Hopefully, that will stop your PC from telling Google it wants Spanish.

Please report back if that doesn't fix it.

Reporting back.

Has not fixed it.

I also did that in Chrome.

Still going Espanol.

Are you sure you are allowed to use a computer?

I did not click the like button by accident. See if you can figure that one out??

OK, click on this link and report back what it says after "Country": http://showip.net/

Also, if you could copy and paste everything under "Headers" at the bottom of the page, that might be a clue.

OK, that didn't help.

Are you logged in to Google? If you are you will see your Google name at the top right of each Google page.

If you are logged in, go to here: https://www.google.com/settings/account

Then check the "Primary language".

Is it Spanish?

Not sure what it was, but changed it to english UK and when logged in and if I close the google pages, then open up again it comes up in english

But, if I log out, then it comes back up in spanish again.

I never log in, never had to before and was always in english.

Can you be specific about how you log out?:

- are you clicking on the "Sign Out" button or are you just closing the browser?

Signing out.

The upper right corner that says the email you are logged in under and the log out within that box.

Thats it, off now, have to.

No problem, see you tomorrow.

To summarise, it looks like you changed the language correctly to English when you are logged in to Google, but after you sign out from Google and then log in again, the language gets reset to Spanish.

No, because I logged back in and it was in English.

Logged in it seems to stay in English. Logged in and out 3 times tonight.

But when logged out, it reverts back to Spanish.

Must go this time, really.

OK, so when you're logged in to Google it knows you want English results, because you specified that in your Google account settings.

But when you're logged out, it doesn't know who you are and gives you Spanish results.

One question: when in Spanish, is the whole Google page in Spanish, like this:

or is it that the results are in Spanish but the Google headings are in English, like this?

ok, back to it.

The first one, all in Spanish.

OK. Make sure you are logged out of Google.

Then do a search for something.

On the results page you will see a small cog icon at the top right, just below "Iniciar Sesion":

post-35489-0-67713800-1367648014.jpg

Click it and you will see this:

post-35489-0-85549500-1367649576.jpg

Click on the first item: "Configuracion...." and you will get this:

post-35489-0-73023000-1367649878.jpg

Click on "Idiomas" and you will get this:

post-35489-0-33086300-1367648858.jpg

Now click on the big "espanol" button and change the language to "Ingles" so it looks like this:

post-35489-0-95645800-1367649185.jpg

Finally, save the setting by clicking on "Guardar" at the bottom right:

post-35489-0-14285300-1367649332.jpg

That should do it. It certainly did it for me while I was logged out of Google and played around with the settings. I don't know how Google remembers these settings when you are not logged in. It may remember your IP address and/or other information from your internet "header".

Anyway, let me know how you get on.

Ignore all this lot!:

(Sorry about the "not be allowed near computers" joke! biggrin.png )
