Victory Day In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hi, i do love victory day (ww2), any idea where to find a place (european bar or i dont know, etc.) with a specific celebrations and stuff?

There is an ANZAC Day which was just held a week or so ago by Australian Veterans.

Members of the local British Legion holds a Remembrance Day here on November 11th every year jointly with the American VFW Post in Chiang Mai also celebrates their Veteran's Day on the same date.

As a matter of interest, what victory would the Thais be celebrating?

Was thinking the same.

Thais have had some great victories recently.....The Reds in the square and the Yellows at the airport...both anniversaries of these victories seem to be popular...Very Thai having two opposing victories.

There was a great victory in the Thai national championships by the Iron ladies in 1996...that was about the only one that piqued international interest as far as I can recall.

BarnicaleBob, thanks, but veterans remebrence days is differnt. The victory day is 8th of May (or 9th in Russia), its a pretty common thing, no matter if you took part in an action or born in 80's. Also found this - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/363171-ve-day-8th-may/ Thought maybe there will be something similair going on.

As an old New Zealand ANZAC I must protest. You are only covering the A and not the NZ.
