Water Level Now In Ko Chang?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I plan to go to Ko Chang at end of the month when I come back from Bali!

How is the water level there at this time?

Any sandy beach or water to low full of stone?

What good place to stay?

Are price cheaper now in low season?

Wheater condition?

I read some where, maybe it was a report by the member KelvinLow that the water was wet as usual.

It was low at low tide, higher at other times.

The weather is hot and wet ... but that shouldn't worry you as you will be in the water and that yes, it's low season on the island and everything is cheap ... please consult one of the sites like Agoda for pricing information.

Apart from that ... have a nice day ... biggrin.png

I found this on WikiReaks:

"The Gulf of Thailand is extremely tidal and shallow at the majority of shoreline sites, enabling the recent discovery of a unique species of air breathing Thai sea rocks, only visible at low tide, on the Isle of Chang (Koh Chang).

Thai scientists at the prestigious Royal Oceanographic Institute of Chiang Lai (ROICL) theorize that, during a high tide, these special "spirit" rocks migrate to shallow water to enable continued breathing, then return to their original location when the tide is low again. Scientists from the University of California at Bakersfield, California, USA, remain baffled by this anomaly, unable to find conclusive evidence, or any evidence at all, in how the spirit rocks move location. They, however, remain steadfast with their ROICL colleagues as it is irrefutable the rocks do indeed disappear during high tide.

Additional funding is expected from the Thai Government to continue the scientific study.

The scientific community was rocked following a recent Royal Thai Tourist Police (RTTP) report that a male foreign tourist entered the sea at high tide from a popular Koh Chang sandy beach resort, diving head first, resulting in a wery seriut (sic) wound to his head.

14 Thai EMS mini-pick up trucks responded and, after a brief struggle among them, were able to staunch the blood flow with a tourniquet, applied to the man's neck, fashioned from the man's own Speedo swim suit and black socks. The tourist's nationality is not known however RTTP suspect European nationality based on the man's beach attire.

The incident is being investigated by the ROICL, a public spokesman issued the following pre-investigation statement: "We do not believe this incident took place or is even possible. It is widely known from this particular resort's website and photos, that the stretch of beach in question is pure white, tropical island sand. No rocks are visible in the website photos, which also supports our theory".

In an unrelated development, the injured tourist vowed to sue the beach resort for false advertising, alleging the website photos, which were the basis for his holiday planning, had been altered to remove sea rocks from view, made sand appear sugar white and the water appear a beautiful shade of aqua blue.

The Resort owner refused to comment but rumors indicate a counter suit for wrongful defamation would be lodged against the injured tourist".

Tragically, the tourist died on the way to Koh Chang's international clinic during a high-speed traffic collision between the EMS pickup and a monkey, causing the EMS vehicle to veer onto the 2cm wide shoulder, striking 74 roadside hotel signs, which caused the rear of the pick up to open, ejecting the gurney strapped tourist over the 100' high roadside cliff, landing on the beach far below, striking his head on sea rocks.

RTTP are investigating but are initially skeptical of the cause of death being it was high tide, and have not ruled out suicide as the tourist was previously seen to be emotional and depressed, and strips of cloth were found tied around his neck".
