Evening all,

I am going to extend my NON O (marriage) multiple entry visa that I got in Aus tomorrow with the missus. I am currently living in Rangsit, so I would imagine that Aranyaprathet is my best bet? I am also trying to convince her that driving there ourselves is a good idea....she still aint buying it....

I am thinking that having her come across with me might be a reasonable idea in case of any complications. I think that Thais can get in for free, is that still the case? Is there much of a chance that they will wish to see a certain amount of Baht in my bank account (no I don't mean the 400,000 for the 1 year extension)...

In short has anyone done such a visa extension run recently there? Should it be smooth sailing as long as I have the fee for the visa?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

You re asking about a new multiple non-O visa. Without financials you have only 1 option in the area and that is Savanakhet in Laos. If you can show 100,000 in the bank you also have the option of going to Kuala Lumphur.

I think he is just talking about doing a border run to get a new 90 days on his existing visa, but it is not really clear.

Going into Cambodia and return will get you the new 90 day entry and is not a problem except for local scams at border - would recommend using one of the visa bus services if you have not done before and wife would not need to make the trip. The cost is only about 2,000 baht including visa/transport/food.

Yes....phew...I am only going to get the extension, a further 90 days. Has anyone had to show 100,000 baht in the bank? We have money in accounts, in my sons name.

Yeah, I have used visa run services before in the past. My Thai is decent enough to get by in these situations most of the time. My wife wants to come anyway and I don't think it would hurt to have her along anyway, she's a competent woman. I think she may be able to get in for free..right?

No problem which border crossing you take than or the need to show money. I was thinking you wanted a new visa, not make a new entry, sorry.

There is no such requirement for entry. The entry requirement for non immigrant visa is 20k in cash but is not normally asked at borders unless really appear down and out. Believe you are thinking of KL requirement of 100k in account for multi entry non immigrant O visa issue.

I did that run a good 6 times or so on your same visa until I got a job here. I did it solo. If you want explicit details, you can pm me. I seriously think I had the cost down to something ridiculous. Let's see, there was the minivan from victory monument cost 230 baht i think. x2 was 460. then there was the 20 dollars + the odd 100 baht for the cambodia visa. thats it. make sure you have a CRISP 20 dollar bill, or the cost goes way up when you pay baht.

Trying to convince the missus that driving to Aranyaprathet would be much more fun. Its a pretty easy looking route from Rangsit.
