May 12, 201312 yr The ducati shop on 3rd road looks like it will be closed this week. I was there today and its is 75% cleaned out....I dont know the story but something is going to happen...
May 12, 201312 yr Well I know I went to Ducati Chiang Mai last week & it was pretty empty They said test rides for the 795 would have to be next week as the bikes went to Bangkok for a show? I was not aware of any show? Which doesn't mean anything
May 13, 201312 yr no customers i'd guess. dukes aren't really that good value for money, in the sportsbike market anyway.
May 13, 201312 yr no customers i'd guess. dukes aren't really that good value for money, in the sportsbike market anyway.Sportbikes in Thailand of all brands are pretty poor value for the money if your a Westerner Yes Ducati is even more than double but except for Yamaha they all pretty much are BMW1000rr USA $15,050? Thailand $33,040 BMW HP4 USA $19,990 Thailand $39,911 Ducati Panigale 1199 USA $17,995 Thailand $46,887 Yamaha R1 USA $14,490 Thailand $26,797 Honda CBR1000rr USA $13,800 Thailand $27,501
May 13, 201312 yr Yup- double the price for the bike, then deal with international shipping and a customs hit on your gear and accessories if you can't have them brought in yourself through the airport- we pay more here for some bikes than anywhere else I know of.
May 13, 201312 yr "They said test rides for the 795 would have to be next week as the bikes went to Bangkok for a show?" That's code for: The bike haven't been selling fast enough to meet our floor plan commitment so the bank is holding the stock until we find the money for the last 2 payments.
May 13, 201312 yr Anyone near the combined banks holding yard in Chaiyapornvitee Rd...can they have a look over the fence for a collection of red bikes! It's right next to Pattaya Auction House who are at 132/2 Soi 14 Nong Prue
May 13, 201312 yr no customers i'd guess. dukes aren't really that good value for money, in the sportsbike market anyway. Must be doin OK considering the mob handed raid a few weeks back, BiB suggested it was Kawasaki Pattaya who funded the raid as they were pissed they were losing sales to them.

That's code for: The bike haven't been selling fast enough to meet our floor plan commitment so the bank is holding the stock until we find the money for the last 2 payments. Actually they are booming here. They took me into a room with 6 or 7 795's waiting to be picked up along with a couple SF & a Panigale Kind of surprised me If you look at Facebook check out Ducati Chiang Mai & they show all those bikes getting picked up this past week Also I have noticed Ducati is doing a lot of their DRE deals in Thailand now as they just had their basic course at the Royal Flora grounds here I guess the economy is doing fine in Thailand ....either that or loans are easy to obtain I do notice of all the Ducatis I see for sale they are all xxxxxx amount plus take over payments
May 14, 201312 yr Ducatis are very expensive for average Thai. Check the prices mania posted. All other brands charge double than USA but only Ducati asks 3 times more! They look so greedy!
May 14, 201312 yr Not sure about Pattaya, but I know they are opening a new showroom on Ratchapruek Rd. in Nonthaburi.

Your probably right. I was just stirring the possums to see if any are awake!
May 14, 201312 yr There is a Ducati factory in Thailand now. From what I hear they can't keep up with demand. This also includes exports to places such as Vietnam.
May 14, 201312 yr "Actually they are booming here." Your probably right. I was just stirring the possums to see if any are awake! Heheheh Yeah I figured but I really was surprised when I saw the sales. Also as I said most of these folks don't buy cash they all buy financed so it is costing them even more than the high prices we see. You know I just found this site & look at the tons of used yet still new 795's & other Duc's for sale. Yet they are all like ok I put all this sh!t on it so I want that money back + this I paid & here is what you have left to pay the finance company....Like 44 months at xxxx baht !!! I keep laughing & my wife is asking what am I looking at. I am just floored so many buy on time....do a bunch of pricey mods, Termigoni exhaust, carbon this & that, Rizoma, etc. Then within 3 months have to sell???? What the heck? Was the bike disappointing or is the payments just more than they can handle? yet they bought & saw the terms & then even modded the bikes? Yeah TIT but I am curious & wondering/laughing as I read. Do they really expect to get all their money back? Here is the site...they also have a non Duc section of sales too But check out the ocean of new/used 795's http://www.monsterclub-thai.com/board/index.php?board=12.0
May 15, 201312 yr I went by today and saw 2 Street Fighters in the showroom and several more in the workshop area. They were selling bikes faster than they could make them last year. Did the new big bike tax slow down sales that much ?

Show up on a 795 and people say, ' meh....Rayong."
May 15, 201312 yr Author my dad always said "dont buy what you cant afford" My father said just tbe opposite. Although he was mainly refering to real property.
May 15, 201312 yr People are realising that these Thai made Ducati's are sub-standard, compared to the 'real' Italian imports. Easy to take finance on a toy, especially a big brand to show off, only for the novelty to wear off when nobody comments on it anymore. It doesn't take long for the monotonous monthly payments to outweigh the enjoyment of the bike....my dad always said to me, 'if you can't afford it don't buy it' i think it's a good rule of thumb for luxury items...
May 15, 201312 yr My dad always said Get out of that bathroom & give someone else a chance !! Or Don't Make Me Turn This Car Around !!
May 15, 201312 yr Kidding aside I do not think it has anything to do with a 795 being viewed as a lesser Ducati Most know the reality is the Ducati 796 like the 696 is still a Ducati Italy product with some assemble done here. But I do think many Thai folks here jump right in & then have buyer remorse & also cannot foot the monthly bill. I mean look closely if you can read a bit of Thai at those ad's Most are new bikes with lots of usual upgrades mainly bling Rizoma stuff but many Termignoni exhaust etc. Many have 100k in upgrades Then they ask for almost all of it back & you just take over payments Many have not even made their 1st payment yet & others have made like 2 payments !!! But what really blows my mind is the mileage on these bikes are like 157 km I dont think these guys are riders at all. Heck I have 4000+ in 5 months already just using the Ninja for fun short trips. I think they bought bikes to make a fashion statement then the reality of making payments hit them. Because they sure don't ride these very far at all. Sad thing to me is this........... From what I understand ( Not 100% sure as I never financed here ) When you have a car or bike financed you can never get a break by paying it off early. From what I understand or heard is you still pay the interest. So all these financed bikes even if sold now are sold at a higher than new price even without mods. So someone like myself ( cash buyer ) would never buy these. Not to mention the usual thinking here that a used car or truck is worth just as much as a new

Too many sellers and not enough buyers usually means lower asking prices . this is Thailand though .........
May 15, 201312 yr well, something's got to give eventually. Too many sellers and not enough buyers usually means lower asking prices . this is Thailand though .........Yeah that is what I mean.....Weird how the prices stay up eh?

A few of the Thai sales guys where I work (you know the type with cool glasses, big haircuts and incredibly tight fitting striped shirts) found out that I'm into bikes and have started asking me questions like whether BMW is better than Ducati. These guys have never ridden and are considering buying Ducati's as a first bike. Why? Because it's the new fashion for trendy 'hiso' guys to have a big bike. A few afternoons sweating their ass off in their Ducati leather jackets on the way to Starbucks and they'll be back in the air conditioned car and the bike will be for sale

Thaiwifey sez most Thais that buy big dollar cars & imported bikes do it on finance terms, and many are just emotional buys that get them in over their head. Same as in the West. A few months into the payments, the reality sinks in and the bike goes on the block.

A few afternoons sweating their ass off in their Ducati leather jackets on the way to Starbucks and they'll be back in the air conditioned car and the bike will be for sale they want these bikes for their own reasons, entirely up to them - it's all good my riding friends! Monsters are fun bikes with a lot of character, a more adult design than lots of the Japanese machinery that, lets face it, have been designed by industrial designers that grew up with Transformers and too much sugar in their breakfast... and/or the wife owns the huevos in the family and the dude want em back and a plastic scooter just doesnt do that for him. whatever... these guys, the non-riders who buy new imported bikes, are OUR best friends in LoS. They pay full retail, all taxes, add expensive bits, ride em once, park em, change their underwear, then sell em! All we have to do is wash off the seat. We had the same thing in San Francisco with the DotCom yuppies in late '90s - early '00s: i was not alone in snagging a basically new Ducati for a song from one of these dweebs. Bike had 1600 miles on it!

But that Financing deal is the killer because they do not drop the interest for prepayment in full. So the used bikes owned by the finance companies are usually higher priced than new out the door bikes. Yet they sell because the next Thai lines up & takes over payments & has enough side money to pay off the previous debt jockey's small deposit request
