Anyone know what main dealers charge for workshop rates?

Workers managed to drive a vehicle with a water leak now it needs a cylinder head skim and a new gasket installed. This involves removing the engine.

I know Sombat on the corner is cheaper but...

Not complaining about the cost of good work just need some info to avoid paying silly money based on the condition of my shoes.

Last year I think we were quoted around 400 baht an hour.

The dealers can be pretty expensive when quoting major repairs because of their parts cost as well. They avoid non genuine parts and re-usability guidelines are influenced by parts sales profit.

Hope you can find some good mechanics, they all claim to be experienced but some dealers do not do a lot of major jobs.

Any vehicle with the engine between and under the front seats!

Maybe I can answer with a question? Unrelated. Which muscle car needed to have the engine mount loosened and the engine jacked up to be able to change the spark plugs in one bank of cylinders?

Not sure there is enough room inside to access the engine, to remove the cylinder head but definitely the engine has to come out to change the cam belt. So it is easier to raise the vehicle on a hoist and drop the engine out on a lifting stand.

Honda in Phuket charges 350 baht/hour for labor charges and they use the labor book for the time.

MY honda had its head gasket replaced and didn't need pull the engine.

Wrong i have one with the engine in that position no problem to take the head off so don't make statements that don't stand up and the Sunbeam Tiger one of the spark plugs has to be changed from inside the cabin of the car happy now?.

It's free forum for fun as well as information. I'm free to make any statement I wish and I certainly don't necessarily have to answer your questions curious or not..

Just a note you haven't given an answer yet to the original question, so much for your local knowledge! Just a load of pontification.

If you don't have the answer to my pretty basic curious question how will you know which main dealer to take it to? Ah you answered that on the 'other' forum at 3.31 pm yesterday along with that you don't have to take the engine out to remove the head, all i did was politely ask you a question it wasn't a state secret was it ?perhaps i should have just said your talking a load of b%llocks which you yourself have confirmed.Have a nice day.
