"UK -- fuggedaboutit!"?

Why?

Anything Irish, and I am usually for it.

I always have been, and probably always will be, from music

to that McCourt writer, Frank I think his name is. O'Hara was great with John Wayne I thought, because she is pretty great (my humble opinion)

The Chieftains I have listened to for many hours after meeting a customer from Oriflame who brought me some Bushmills too.

The guy from Oriflame was from Ireland, who knows where the head office is now though.

Keep up with your Irish, but mind your brogue in the Pub.

Well, Semifinals One is done.

One of the BBC 3 hosts is American.

It's a pity more Americans don't know the glorious joys of Eurovision.

So 10 out of 16 countries made it to the finals in this first round.

I won't mention all those who made it, but these stood out to me:

Russia, Belgium, Ireland, the NETHERLANDS!!!!!

Denmark is the consensus favorite. I understand why and they are a good bet, but I hope not.

This was the biggest news. The NETHERLANDS made it to the finals. Finally! But I doubt they will win the thing.

Belgium. It's those EYES.

Russia has a shot. They were full on theme:

"But I doubt they will win the thing."

Maybe not,

Unless they have already won the Thing.

Oh, behave!

By the way, if you'd like to share how you are watching EUROVISION 2013 in Thailand, that might help some people out. Thinking out of thebox here.

Thank you for the Wikipedia link.

You know, Wikipedia is all I read.

One serious question if I may?

How many computer displays do you have connected to your computer?

Do you have like 3 separate screens with three different graphic cards like they provide at Morgan Stanley for their hired manipulators?

Seems to me as if you are able to trade and comment on 5 separate topics at once.

But where the percentage is for you, I am still guessing.

Anything Irish I will be pulling for.

It is fair to say that to watch Eurovision

I will not be using Chunnelvision.

Actually JT ... I'm glad you are doing it again this year.

They are playing the songs on the local radio and thought that I hadn't seen it this time around in the Pub ... well done ... thumbsup.gif

Been Irish I generally dont like the Irish entries of late, we had a puppet called Dustin the Turkey for God sake!

This year's isn't as bad as some of the others I heard in the semis, I have no idea how the Netherlands is a favorite, I thought it was awful. And Lithuania getting through was a joke in my opinion. Looking forward too tomorrow!

Just incase you dont believe me we had a turkey on stage: http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=/

I don't think the Netherlands is actually a favorite to win. It's a very different kind of song. It's just great news for them to get into the finals is all. Denmark is a favorite to win. I do like the Spanish song better. We'll see on the second night of course, so don't have a top favorite as yet. I think there are two levels for Eurovision, personal favorites and predictions for who is actually going to win, given the political games with the voting.

The Netherlands were third favourites earlier in the week when I was having a look, everyone seemed to know they would get through this year which had me suspicious!!

There is no accounting for tastes in music.

I tend to be very tolerant of those with ears of tin

Maybe it is just a matter of training the ear

The lack of training the ear.

But you know what they say about those who grow up speaking a native tonal language,

They are more likely to have perfect pitch.

According to one study done in, of course,

China

That's comforting.

That Dutch "Birdy" song is stuck in my head. It is very sticky. I think there is a secret mind bomb embedded in the melody. It may be the dark horse!

Semifinals Show 2 is in the can or in thebox at it were! No spoilers please ... until I watch it.

I hope it helps me get that infernal BIRD song out of my head. It's haunting me. Do yourself a favor and don't watch the Birds song. It may infect you.

This is the only reason I am not watching Eurovision,

I am still stuck on this

For the better

I know.

Watch at your own risk

This is the tune that cannot be easily forgotten

No accounting for good taste:

OK, it's spoiler time.

There weren't any real shocks with those who didn't make it in Round 2.

Of the winners, stronger songs for me were:

Azerbaijan

Greece

Norway is a contender. Not my style.

Finland's featured a girl on girl kiss to balance out the retro un-feminist song

My favorite of the night by far was Greece:

Serious question. Greece really CAN'T win, can they? How can Greece possibly afford hosting a Eurovision?

Introduction to Eurovision for Americans (and others new to it):

This Overthinking channel has reviewed all the countries. Some of them are funny.

Such as this one on the Bird song. He got the prediction wrong though.
