New Laptop, Old Printer

Featured Replies

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8. Among other problems with this wonderful new OS it does not appear to be backwards compatable with my 5 year old Canon printer. The priter was fairly expensive new and still works perfectly. I hate to be forced to buy a new printer because of Microsoft's planned obsolescence. Does anyone know of a patch or bridge I can download to make these two devices talk to each other? I have had no luck looking around Google. Thanks.

Again, which printer? If the printer is 5 years old, there should be a 64 bit Vista/Windows 7 driver available and it should work. However, Windows 8 by default won't let you install unsigned drivers (which might be your problem). However, there is a way to install unsigned drivers in Windows 8.
