My retirement visa ends on 24th August 2013.

I did my 90 day report today. I have to report back on 12th August.

My question is, do I have to sort a new retirement visa with proof of money in the bank on or around the 12th August or can I go on the 12th of August and get a new 90 days extension, then sort a new retirement visa in November?

Thanks :)

The 90 day report is not an extension.

To save two trips to immigration you could do your extension and 90 day report on the 12th of August.

Or make the report on the 12th and the extension before the 24th.

What is your permitted to stay stamp in passport? You must exit by that date or make an extension of stay. But saying your visa expires on August 24th means nothing unless a multi entry and you could then return anytime before it expires to obtain a new entry of whatever it permits (not knowing what you have we can not say more).

As said above the 90 day address report is not an extension of your permitted stay in any way and normally it is so marked.

aha. OK. Thanks.

I was on a train of thought that it might work the same way as Non-O for a year and get the extra 90 days if doing a border crossing before the expiry date..

That is no problem, I'll get it sorted near the time for another 1 year retirement visa.

Sometimes the brain works in strange ways :)

Why don't you do your retirement extension and the 90 days at the same time? You can apply for the retirement visa extension one month before the visa expires

"...I'll get it sorted near the time for another 1 year retirement visa."

Unless you intend to start all over from scratch, you're not getting another visa. You're getting an extension of stay. I suppose that's being pedantic, but it does seem a lot of people can't distinguish between a visa, generally issued by an embassy or consulate, and an extension of stay which is granted (or not) by Immigrations. (And sometimes confusing the 90 day report with the extension of stay). Mixing the two up seems to make some threads even more confusing than they already are.

Did my 90 day reporting (a week late) and my Retirement visa on Tuesday at Pattaya soi 5. I arrived at 7.45am. All done and dusted by 8.50. I'd actually tried on Monday but the office was shut for the Ploughing Ceremony in BKK!

There was an orderly queue outside until the office opened and people were allowed in in ones and twos.

I took two tickets as I went in & nervously watched in case I was called simultaneously to two different desks: in fact I had to wait 3 minutes at the 2nd desk!

The 90 day lady gave me back my photo-copies 'for next time.'

I was very impressed by the smoothness of the whole operation.
