No Water For Over 24 Hours......

Are you lacking water?

Pattaya water seem to have done themselves really proud this time

In some areas of Khao Talo there is no water. Has been no water since 10 a.m. And there will be no water until tomorrow afternoon.

It makes you wonder what sort of two bit company can deprive people of water for over 24 hours. Especially in temperatures like these. No water for toilets or for washing. No water bowsers sent round for people to use, so they can get a supply of water in buckets or whatever.

It is a pathetic stae of affairs in the 21st century, even for a country like Thailand.

No water shortage here, if you live in a house why not install a big water tank so you have backup in case of water shortage ?

Not a problem for me.

The majority of people here do not have tanks or pumps. It is them I feel for. A few of my neighbours have moved out for the day and night and I can't blame them.

The point is that Pattaya Water should not let people go without water for so long a period. It is unsanitary. They know the water will be off for over 24 hours and make no provisions. That to me is unnacceptable in this day and age.

Also Pattaya is supposed to be a city where they want higher end tourists and people to move in whistling.gifcheesy.gif

The water supplies in Pattaya can be so hit and miss.

We have water trucks making regular visits to the residents in our neighborhood in Jomtien.

Makes one wonder how the new, nearby condo developments Dusit Grand Park, Maldives, Zen and Laguna will be able to cope?

Don't blame the water company, blame City Hall which refuses to do anything to limit new construction. This is why the rest of the world has zoning laws, to limit growth so that infrastructure can catch up. Here in Thailand, they build and then expect someone else to provide accessory services

water is routinely cut off for several hours each day but not a big problem as we all have large tanks. maybe it happened before but I only noticed this year.

The well connected Thai person down the road who has a large garden gets the fire brigade in to house down his lawn regularly. His staff arranges it all of course, so as far as the boss is concerned, water is in abundant supply. all he needs is police out rider to clear the roads of commoners, then he will think there are no traffic issues too.

This has been going on for year's when I lived there off 3 road some 7+ year's ago had no water for months and I mean months then they changed the set up and thing's got a bit better, now it's down hill again. Water tank's are a must as it's not going to improve soon. Infrastructure what Infrastructure.

Another joy of living in Pat's.

It will soon be solved !, they are talking about water management here in Chiang Mai at

the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit, Maybe thats why my water pressure is very low

this morning, diverting the water to the 5 star hotels, where all the high level dignitaries

are staying, it would be a big loss of face for Thailand if they could not get their shower

this morning !

Seriously, the pace that housing developments,Malls, shophouses, ect ect are been built

up here, do you think water supply will have been planned to keep pace ? and i suppose

Pattaya is the same

What I find odd is that very few Thai people phone the water company up to complain.

Before we had a tank installed and the water went off the g/f started phoning up. yet, as we went to nearby shops opr she talked to some of the neighbours they shrugged their shoulders when asked if they too phoned the water company.

You would think that if they all got together and phoned someone might start to take notice. Maybe they will not either, but until the locals start to complain en-masse nothing will be done for sure.

Obviously many in condos will have water tanks in their buildings so do not see how often the water is off. And the water is off a lot in Pattaya.

Seems Pattaya is not the only place judging by other posts.

I can only say that you and all the people you talk about should all call City Hall (today closed) however even on Monday just because it is all you can do really but if no-one complains, they don't care even more if that is possible?

I remember my ex-wife (and millions of other Thais) would always fill the plastic garbage cans in the bathroom for these kind of situations. Not good but at least you can shower with it and flush your toilets. That was in Bkk but I think it is standard Thai practice.

I hope you get your situations resolved at least for the other people's sake.

And as the g/f talks to people nearby everyone in the villages are expected to be without water until Monday now. Seems people have been phoning Pattaya water and that is the news they are getting.

Still no supplies or bowsers sent round for people either. Definitely a state of affairs where the company obviously do not care.

It is my understanding some villages are affected but I do not know which. Maybe a prudent idea to conserve water or at least be aware supplies from the mains are limited, especially those who have tanks that might need filling.

As I walked down the street tonight, one of my neighbours offered me water, thinking maybe I did not have any.

Seems he spends his time with a low level pipe - like a hosepipe - and a very slow flow of water filling those large white 20? litre bottles with water.

I thought it was great of him to offer. I declined politely saying I have enough water, we had a ciggie together, complained about the water and I was on my way.

In times of trouble there are still some great, unselfish people about.

Current news from the village gossip mill has it that the government supply will come back on tonight.

I will believe it when the tanks are all full.

Did they also say they has seen pink fairies at the bottom of the garden? laugh.png

Seriously, I do wonder why the water is off. The water company say a major repair is underway so no water at all until Monday now. Yet, on Khao Talo itself they have water. So, now the water can magically bypass all the affected villages off Khao Talo but not the main road itself?

I smell a rat, especially as here we have been on government water meters for only 6 weeks after paying Eakmonkol previously. Has someone not paid a bill?

There certainly seems to be no works going on anywhere near the village.

Well the pink fairies were there but the water wasn't at 6 this morning nor at 11.30.

I think it was something to do with the lack of virgins that we didn't sacrifice to the water and the land Gods.

It's hard to find a good virgin nowadays and I dont think that the recycled ones are acceptable.

People are now having water storage tanks and pumps put in.

Water delivery trucks are now in and out of the estate regularly.

No-one seems to know what is happening. One guy with limited English says it is to do with the people who built the estate that have turned the water supply itself off even though we had Pattaya water meters installed recently. He says it will not be back on soon.

It makes you wonder .....

I first read this post and thought I better check my tanks. Nothing!! I am in Ekmongkon 4 and I have 2 x 1100L tanks but had to call the water truck last night.

Woke this morning still no water coming in?

I have been praying for rain as my spare tank gets a feed from the rainwater off the roof .. but no rain either!

I recall when my wife said we had to pay 4500B for the new water meter and we will be ok .. well it has been worse since the meter install. The only people making a quid of of this are the water truck operators who don't seem to have any trouble finding water!!

You paid for your new meter? I presume you own the house?

The reason I ask is I rent but the loandlady made no mention of paying for the new meter. They are Pattaya Water meters and we now pay our bills at 7/11 whereas before we paid the water bills at Eakmonkol office on Khao Talo.

Water went off 10-15 Friday morning :(

And no, no water today either. Must be some dispute.

Correct its our own house. Haven't got this months water bill, but last month we still paid it to the Ekmongkon officer but i presume will be paying the same as you this month. Previously if your payment was late it cost you an extra 500b, but its ok not to provide water for 5 days!

Exactly, on the bill payment and no water for 5 days.

We had our new meter installed 6 weeks ago and paid 1 bill to 7/11. Cheaper water too from Pattaya water - but that is IF you can have watercheesy.gif

I do not know if Pattaya Water has turned this off or Eakmonkol but no-one is doing much to turn the water back on.

Pattaya water say it is a major repair, but no repair works happening. So they are not being honest.

I contacted a newspaper yesterday hoping they might get some action.

You are complaining about no water for 24 hours.

Out here in rural Thailand we have been without government water for 11 weeks now and there are many more villages like ours in Thailand.

We are fortunate enough and planned well enogh ahead to have 27 x 1,500 litre ongs and we still get a top up by the local fire truck.

Perhaps you may appreciate this photo then.

attachicon.gifYou mean to tell me.jpg

Actually, I've been without tap water since the first week of January, in Pattaya. Last night was an exception, got about 500 litres, and that pushes the next day I have to call the tank truck 2 or 3 days into the future. I guess they forgot to shut off the pumps over night, when the use drops.

5 days for us. The water came back on sometime late last night - thankfully.

As much as anything, there are a lot of Thai people on the estate who have no water storage tanks and many cannot afford them and they must have been suffering, especially on the sanitation front.

My delivery was made within 2 hours of the phone call. 200 Baht and it would have filled two tanks or 1500+ litres.

I thought that installing some sort of water storage system was always the first priority when building in Pattaya. There's a very, very long history of water shortages in the area but I wonder if developers ever mention it when selling the latest paradise? Most older properties in the villages already have them installed and those that haven't are ignored by the savvy buyer/renter.

Depending on your needs, a storage tank and pump can be installed for around 10,000 baht and up. The cheapest way to make huge storage is to make a two or three vertical concrete tanks using about five standard well pipes for each tank. I did that in my first build off Soi Photisan back in 1980. It still works and gives about 2 weeks of self-sufficiency. I did the same when I built up in Udon where city water pressure wasn't enough to keep the moobahn and the ice factory up the street supplied. It also blocked the neighbours view of our swimming pool.

A lady in our estate told my wife the water was coming back on last night and with good pressure and that we need to turn off the meter until it arrives. Smart thinking so my wife did but I said we need to open it a little so we know when the water actually begins to return.

I turned the wrong valve on .. lol

Any way it came back on with huge pressure compared to the usual trickle and found a weak joint in the pipework which was easily repaired.

Can't say the same for the guy down our who was very busy working under his new fountain .. LOL

At the moment the water is coming in regular and strong .. best I have ever experienced. Both tanks are full and replenishing very quickly.

Wife is so happy everything in the garden got a huge drink.

And it is the plants that suffer a lot with limited or no water available. At least they can come back with a drink.

That pressure is strong. I noticed a neighbour whose tank was leaking last night. Maybe they forgot to secure the filler lid at the top of the tank.

Thankfully no leaks here.

Today is my 69th birthday and for a present I had a terrific downpour of rain, the roses came out for me and water came from the government pipes for the first time in about 12 weeks.

There is not much pressure but everybody is filling their tanks and it will probably take a couple of days to get the pressure back.

That was the best birthday present and anything else is a bonus.
