Personal Statement

As a highly-motivated educator and writer, I have spent my entire life helping others. While in high school I worked with children at my old elementary

school to improve their reading, writing and math skills. While in college I worked as a Para educator, primarily dealing with youth who were behind in

their reading and writing skills. I created successful curriculum to either have them caught up with the rest of their classmates or have them reading a

grade level or two ahead. I used my work at this school to base my senior thesis, "Teaching the Underprivileged and Hopeless." After college I moved

to Los Angeles and took a staff writing job for the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). While at NBC I served not only as a sitcom writer, but also

as a story editor and script editor. While there I had two shows purchased and one of those had a pilot shot, but never aired. Currently I work for a

Fortune 500 tech company as a senior operations engineer. One of my main job functions is to prepare documentation to present to Senior Managers,

Directors and Vice Presidents. I also do a lot of technical writing for staff procedures and how to operate new and cutting edge computer equipment. I

am also working as a life coach in my spare time. The main focus as a coach is to prepare non-American citizens to interview for jobs that are not

agriculturally related. I prepare them in interview skills, work on their diction, resume writing and cover letter creation. My teaching style can be

described as basing everything off fundamentals. My mantra is to build from the root up because a tree cannot stand if there are no roots to hold it up.
