Public Holiday July 30 and July 31

Banks will be open July 31st although.

Reminder

Any idea if the Immigration Office and/or Land Transport Office will be open on either of these days?

Immigration closed 31 st... (so I have just been told).... Probably all government offices too...

No news on when the new Immigration Office will open, there are still things to complete....wink.png

12 August (Wednesday) The Queen's Birthday (Mother's Day)

It's in red letters on the calender, so perhaps bars and government offices closed...?

Can any one confirm....?

There should be an late afternoon / evening event at the pier area in Nathon, which was well attended last year...thumbsup.gif

Government offices and main bank branches will be closed. Previous history over the years, bars have had a low probability of being closed. But this year can't be sure. wink.png

Today Tuesday is also a public holiday, part of he government " Return Happiness To The People ".

That was only last year.

Read it yesterday in the news section, now gone. Oh well you can have the day off anyway.

Would love to but the university says no. biggrin.png But that extra day was for last year only, 2557, as the holiday was on a Tuesday and the government gave Monday off as a special day to give 4 day long weekend to promote domestic tourism.

Copied from a post by Tywais.....in another part of TV forum! wink.png

23 October (Friday) Chulalongkorn Day is a public holiday including main branch bank closures. Branches in shopping centers are normally open. No prohibition on alcohol sales.

27 October (Tuesday) Wan Awk Phansa (End of Buddhist Lent). It has been announced for 2015 it will be a no alcohol day. Not a public holiday and banks open but a lot of ceremonies taking place.

I have asked several bars this evening about a closure on Tuesday and not a single one knew anything about it.

Exactly where has this been announced, please?

Thanks very much.

As most bar owners (as of Sunday evening) seemed unaware of the alcohol ban, it will be interesting to see how widely observed it is.

A couple of holidays coming up....

5 December (Saturday) The King's Birthday (Father's Day)

7 December (Monday) The King's Birthday Substitution Day

10 December (Thursday) Constitution Day

December 7th - Monday, substitution day for the King's birthday, and December 10th - Thursday, Constitution Day are public/government holidays. As such immigration, schools and other government offices will be closed. Main branches of banks will also be closed (BOT site) but as usual the satellite branches such as malls will be operational. So prepare in advance your activities.

Either the 5th (King's birthday) or the 7th (substitution day) has a high probability of a no alcohol day, not clear yet. Constitution day has no prohibition.

December 11th, Bike for Dad Day. Appears they have decided not to make it a public holiday though I know many at our university will be taking the day off .

(Thanks to Tywais)

For the month of May

As posted by Tywais...

May 02 (Monday) - Labor day. Banks closed, except for satellite branches such as at malls, but government offices open. Some business may be closed.

May 5th and 6th (Thursday and Friday) - Coronation day plus special holiday to allow for long weekend. Banks closed except satellite branches, Government offices and schools closed. Bars open. smile.png

May 9th (Monday) - Royal Ploughing Ceremony. Banks open. Schools closed. Not certain about government offices such as immigration, this is one holiday that I find confusing regarding governments Some Thai embassies/consulates will be closed.

May 20th (Friday) - Visakha Bucha Day. Banks closed, government offices and schools closed and Embassies/Consulates closed. This is a dry day, no alcohol allowed to be sold.

If any one going to Samui Immigration, in the next week, perhaps you could ask about whether open or closed on May 9 th.... and post! wink.png
