The latest City striker possibilities-Mario Gomez, Oscar Cardozo and Alvaro Negredo.

Cardozo is scoring consistently but at 30 year old I'm not sure if that would be a great move.

Gomez would probably cost more but why has he fallen down the pecking order at Bayern?

Negredo looks the better option but depends on the value.

I have seen rumours that we are also looking at Michu whom I liked early on in the season but I don't know if I'd fancy him at City.

Agreed about Cardozo. A bit of a stopgap measure ? Negredo, I don't know much about and will have to start googling. Gomez lost his place when the Croat Mandzukic exploded on the scene. Apparently Gomez had some kind of ankle surgery in latter 2012 and Mandzukic jumped all over his opportunity when it came. I haven't heard about the ankle being a problem now, and Gomez seemed to have played very well when he got time. He's only 27. Hmmm...Michu, I don't know about him either. Until I find out more about Negredo I'd prefer Gomez. Tremendous poacher.

Swansea bought Michu who is a Spaniard for a bargain 2m pounds and he scored 20+ goals last season.

When the hand of friendship is extended to opposing supporters and you get a slap in the face for your trouble, I get a bit jaundiced.

When the beautiful game becomes sordid with the machinations of men with money who are in it only for the money, I get a bit jaundiced.

When a kid from the favelas of brazil becomes rich and famous and retains his modesty and dignity, I am impressed.

One of the best games I have ever seen was a Sunday afternoon in the Maracana; Fluminense v Botafogo. What was that day about? Football, football, football, joy, joy, joy. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was there with a Scotsman called Ian. Great guy.

Paulinho looks like a very good player and a good man.

I wish him well at the lane.

I am sure Jose would be pleased to have him in the Chelsea dressing room as a visitor or a player.

Jogo Bonito. United by the Beautiful Game.

Lest we forget (I've had to listen to loads of cretinous newbies bleating about Wenger not buying anyone):

When does the transfer window open?

The summer transfer window will open on July 1.

When does the transfer window close?

All wheeling and dealing would normally come to an end when the window slams shut (and they always slam) at midnight on August 31, except that's a Saturday, so the window will actually shut at midnight on Monday, September 2.

There's also a deadline for Champions League registration which I think might be earlier than that.

Yes you have just summed up whats wrong with Brazil 2014 and when Pele effectively gets slapped down you know its serious. The impoverished working class is having to foot the bills for the football and the olympics but the government and Pele seemed to have made a huge misjudgment in the priorities of the majority rank and file. Not to forget the fact that the poor will be watching the games all crowded around a small tv with no chance of being able to afford to go to a game anyway.

Standards of living for your family come way above football and the government using sport to up the countries world profile and using the poor working class to foot the bill.

They could also suffer the indignity of Argentina winning the tournamentwink.png

Gunners in the hunt for Julio Cesar.

unfortunately If the Arse get higuan and cesar, for me will be significant strengthening steps, and could well push for the title.

They've still got a midfield of mostly plodders though. I like Cazorla, but Wilshere, the Great White Hope, can't stay healthy, and Ramsey underwhelms me. I like Oxlade-Chamberlain. I would agree with you if Wilshere fulfills his potential, but so far I think he's been over hyped.

Despite all the criticism that goes Wenger's way I thought Arsenal overachieved last season.

But I digress...wink.png

'over achieved' a touch subjective mate the fact is they did it AGAIN. but yeah midfield could be an issue, maybe Wiltshire will learn with experience, for me just needs to pick his challenges a little more prudently or contain/ himself a little, he goes in regardless, little like early doors bryan robson?, with cesar, he will settle and sort the defense, which did seem to settle and progressed as the season went along , however they STILL need some QUALITY muscle in front of the defense, thought that song started to look the part,, but seemed wenger wernt that big a fan and let barca out bid him!!!! 4 me a mistake? but with higuan,in the strike force will anyone be a match for the potential in that strike force ATM? utd,,,,, maybe but imo not city the chavs or us.
