Well the whole Higuian to Arsenal thing sounds like a crock of s**t:

"We don't want Higuain to leave," Perez told Univision.

"What's more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table."

Amazing how all the press had him flying into London for medicals and other sundry "details".

On the other hand, you can't believe a thing Perez says. And, on another hand, Higuain's father has been involved, and the pudding always seems to be messy when family gets involved.blink.png

David Villa could be offered to Manchester United, along with Thiago Alcantara, in a bid to take Wayne Rooney to the Camp Nou, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Despite manager David Moyes stating on Friday that the striker "is not for sale", Barcelona are hopeful that involving Spain’s leading scorer in the deal could make United rethink their stance and enhance the Catalans’ chances of landing Rooney.

Sport claims that the transfer would cost Barcelona €4 million, plus Thiago and Villa - whose combined value is believed to be around €26 million.

But Villa is understood to have a number of admirers and Tottenham Hotspur have already lodged an official offer, although it was swiftly refused.

Another Spanish daily, El Mundo Deportivo, describes Spurs' bid as "ridiculous" and claims that Barca will not consider anything less than €10 million for the striker, who has netted 56 goals for Spain.

Atletico Madrid, after apparently losing out on Alvaro Negredo to Manchester City, have also made their interest in 31-year-old known and are believed to be weighing up an offer.

Villa is aware that playing time at the Camp Nou will be even more limited this season following the arrival of Neymar.

With the World Cup just a year away, 'el Guaje' will be keen to join a team who will guarantee him minutes and allow him to impress Vicente del Bosque ahead of Brazil 2014.

Nice to have Villa and Thaigo abroad. Two class players for one is not a bad idea.

Here's a f****** blinder for the transfer thread:

Speaking to a very nervous looking Alec Lindsay on his debut:

"When you get the ball, I want you to beat a couple of men and smash the ball into the net,

just the same way you used to at Bury. Bemused Lindsay said:

But Boss that wasn't me it was Bobby Kerr.

Shankly turned to Bob Paisley and said: Christ Bob, we've signed the wrong player."

All bookmakers offering odds, make Benteke odds on to go to Spurs. Odds range between 4/5 and 4/7.

Staying at Villa 2/1

Chelsea between 11/4 and 9/2

I think 8/1 Arsenal and 12/1 Liverpool with BetFred, look big prices, especially if Higuain stays in Madrid and Suarez leaves Liverpool

At the moment I think Spurs is the best fit for Benteke. I can't see Chelsea buying another striker.

The way I see it is that Mourinho wants shut of Ba and probably thinks he can get Torres performing. You also have Lukaku.

But surely you are one top class striker short?

Hmmmmm, not sure. We only play with one striker and I would like Lukaku to try his stuff. He might not be the full article yet, but playing for us is the next logical step I think. Torres has improved a bit, although is still lacking, so is a good second option. Not sure Chelsea will see it that way, but thats what I want.

Also, if they both flop (unlikely i feel) Roman can splurge in January if need be.

Lukaku and for that matter Benteke need first team football. The world cups a year away and they both know they HAVE to be playing. I'm sure Lukaku will be a big part of Chelsea next reason and i feel for the same reason of him potentially being our first choice we might well sign Benteke
