Kevin1908
Does anybody know what the total number of non EU settlement applications to the UK are in the last year. The Government claims to have got immigration down to 500,000 based on the following: New Commonwealth 166,000 From EU countries that joined after 2004 58,000 Students 190,000 For work 175,000 Apart from the total being 528,000 not the 500,000 claimed where does that put the non EU spouses not from the New Commonwealth, such as Thailand. We are led to believe that the earnings requirements were essential to bring down immigration but it seems that the figures are a complete mess. 7by7
Migration statistics would be good place for you to start. You do have a point; family migration accounts for a small percentage of total immigration to the UK; so the measures introduced last year will have very little affect on the total.
