Simply that most of us here consider that you should change oil at intervals recommended by the maker (10.000 km being the max for an old car), and oil changes every 5 K kms is what some adhere by.

and me thought that's rather on the high side, taking again my 18 year old Golf II as a reference. it needed new oil every 15 to 20k only, what an exceptional car that was!

Viewed another cheap car today.

The oil and transmission fluid were good, the only problem is that I checked the color from drips on the ground!
