June 7, 201313 yr I just purchased a 2nd hand car. This is the first time I have owned a car in Thailand.I have been looking around for 1st class insurance for my 2009 Honda Civic valued at 550K.I went to a broker and he offered a number of the insurance companies. The most reasonable one was Deves. Their cost for 1st class insurancewith no deductible was 15K for my 2009 Honda Civic valued at 550K.Anyone have any experience with this company? Edited June 7, 201313 yr by vagabond48
June 8, 201313 yr can't help you with the company, but make sure you compare all the details. I just went through this for our car and the different priced policies had fairly significant difference. Value of the car was one, where the repair would would be done is another, property damage was one and medical coverage for us was a biggie. We opted not to go with the cheapest one due to these differences. But didn't go with the most expensive either.
June 8, 201313 yr Popular Post Assuming the point of car insurance is to help you if you have an accident, then one if the things most valued by expats is a 24 hour assistance line in English and that's not common, nor us it likely to be at the cheaper end. But on a dark night if you've just knocked a Thai citizen off his motorbike then swerved into a parked car (no lights, no crash helmet, didn't look, had been drinking but right now he is lying on the road and not moving), and as you wsit for the police and ambulance and look at the rather menacing crowd of your spectators who keep reoeating that 'farang' word, after getting just a recorded message in Thai from your insurance company, the thrill at getting the most reasonable (cheapest) insurance might seem a bit hollow.
