Hi,

Does anyone know what the MEA (metropolitan electric company) Ftrate is for? On the bill, we get the usual which isn't too bad in price, then you look below and it has the added fee's of:

Section 2 ( Ft ) Charge Used Energy x Ftrate and then section 3 is the VAt @ 7% - these 2 together put almost 1,000 baht on top.

Can't do anything about the charges but just wondered what we are paying for.

thanks,

The Ft means Fuel Adjustment Charge. It is set every 4 months by the Energy Regulatory Commission and is variable depending on changes in fuel costs.

About 9630 Baht - 1.07 x ((2168 x 3.6821) + (2168 x .4692))

//Based on my last bill charges.

that seems ok

now I know why I did not see solar panels on the roofs like here in OZ

but I might still look into getting solar when we move back there...Like air conditioning 555

I would like to know if I can get them to check my external wires, as, I have seen signs of 'fiddling'...bits of wire on the ground..and some apparent 'stray wires' up top near the pole....and my bill has been going up 700 baht a month for the past 2 months now...neighbors are paying 1300 baht...and my bill was 3000 baht...

One way to check if you think they are tapping into your power line is to turn off all breakers in the house and check to see if the meter is still moving.

Or shut off your power to the house at night, and see what neighbours goes out as well....some will tap in after your meter....great hey?

If they tap in after the breakers and not for the whole house but just a non-obvious power-hog like their fridge you wouldn't know that way.

If you manually turn off and/or unplug everything in your house and the meter stops spinning you're in the clear at least at that point in time.

Or as I said, just get a recommended sparks in from out of the area who answers only to you he'll check it out.
