I want to open bank accounts in Europe - any advice?

Featured Replies

I will soon embark on a holiday to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia. Whilst there I would like to open a bank account in Switzerland (for Swiss Francs) and either Austria or Germany (for Euros). The reason is that I will then have a couple of accounts where I could shift cash from the UK to if ever I need to. I would keep them open with just a small nominal sum.

My questions are these:

1. as a resident in Thailand, can I do this easily?

2. what documents would I need to open an account?

3. any suggestions on good banks for various products, credit cards, interest rates etc.

Thanks in advance.

any advice for somebody who wants to open a CHF account in Switzerland because he might spend a few grand there is useless.

the same applies to the question "good banks for various products, credit cards, interest rates etc.".

no offence meant, just stating facts wai2.gif

1 Swiss Franc equal to 33.14 Thai Baht give or take a few bob today. Further convert THB to GBP to CHF and it's obvious you're a man of means.

Most will ask to see contract of employment, registration papers, rental agreements passport etc its difficult to open accounts without these docs due to the obvious money laundering potential.
