Hardly looks like an attack but more like a staged event. You have six people wearing red clothing and one with a mask. Everyone seems to be in party mood with happy smiling faces. Look at the pic, that is definitely staged. The guy in red is smiling and the little woman in the stripes is apparently being held back by the invisible man.

I took another look at this photo and think that you need to look again as well. I cannot see anyway to draw the same conclusion that you have.

I think that he you should visit an optometrist, there is no smile on the face of the red shirt and there is no one restraining the woman in the striped shirt.

I agree entirely with the 2nd posters comments.

Shades of the early days of national socialism in Germany eh? Now Thaksin's mobs are showing their support for democracy! Nazi Style! Bring it on!

It goes beyond this little spat. Everytime Democrats go anywhere to speak in Red Shirt territory, including former PM Abhisit, they are pelted with thrown objects their access to venues are blocked and Abhisit's car on many occasions has been damaged as the red shirt thugs throw projectiles at it. This is the democracy under the Shinawatra government.

I don't recall anything similar happening when the Abhisit government was in power (i.e. the yellows attacking reds).

The Pheu Thai and their mafia supporters won't tolerate anybody criticizing them and it will only get worse. The red shirts are indeed the Thai version of Germany's jack-booted thugs. And the rot and stench of supression of free speech and political opposition reeks all the way to Dubai where the top bastard sits pulling the strings.

And the puppets here do not realize that they are being manipulated by this clown.

I have wondered for quite some time just how this guy has not been taken out.

Some people just see what they want to see.

How democratic of the Pheu Thai deputy spokesman... hypocrisy reigns supreme. If they're sincere they should ban the wearing of red in public. They're in power, what more do they want!

The only genuine smile I can see is the dude with the mask. The 'smiley' red is donning one of those fake ones.

What more do they want? they want to be loved...

One side comes out to protest and calls for democratic elections. The other side comes out and calls for a military coup and military appointed government. They should be put in prison.

Not only are you totally wrong but you have only revealed your lack of democratic credentials.

The red side called for the overthrow of a democratic government. Not much different to calling for a coup. The V-mask protestors are not calling for a military coup (more economical 'truths') but an end to corruption by the Thaksin-appointed government.

You are obviously not a supporter of: 'i don't agree with what they are saying but will defend their right to the death to do so'.

"As long as both - red and yellow shirts - are seen only as tools used by some greedy, corrupt self-obsessed individuals in disguise - they will never be taken seriously."

Does this mean I should not take seriously the statements of UDD leaders who happen to be Pheu Thai party list MPs? Ignore Dept. Minister for Agriculture, Pheu Thai party list MP and UDD leader Nattawut on his tour explaining the 'rice pledging' to farmers? Ignore Pheu Thai party list MP and UDD leader Dr. weng when he calls for the eradication of the Democrats? Ignore a Pheu Thai led government which is so keen on democracy that all should see it as such and there's no need to complain anymore?

BTW the 'white masks' are not equivalent to the 'yellow shirts', but are part of the topic as 'red shirts' attacked them. I would take that mob of red-shirts seriously.

EDIT: a 'not' went missing, found and insertedwai.gif

Our red shirt lovers here on TV would like to speak up about this? Are you happy to be supporting thugs like that?

Well, these masked people are taunting the red shirts and i think if i was a red shirt i would probably retaliate to this taunting, its only natural. And if they are not trying to make trouble, why are they doing it ? sad.png

I've seen three videos of this - two where a few Red Shirt old ladies start shouting at the white masked protesters and then some guys jump in and start pushing and trying to take their banners away and it doesn't look like anything too violent, but it doesn't exactly look friendly either.

Then I saw the third, with Red Shirt guys whacking protesters with sticks and police having to drag Red Shirts off prone victims, and it reminded me of this:

Darks days for humanity when shit like this is happening.

You're doing it again Oldsailor! The V masks were not taunting the reds, they were quietly protesting and a MOB of 200 reds decided to use physical violence and threats to move them.

Your last line is a joke right?

And if they are not trying to make trouble, why are they doing it ?

You don't do any Teaching by any chance do you?

The red side called for the overthrow of a democratic government. Not much different to calling for a coup.

Indeed, and in fact, when they took over central Bangkok and started pushing things to the brink of anarchy, i think the general masterplan was to force one of two outcomes; 1) either Abhisit would be unable to bring things under control and would have had to stand down, or 2) he would have refused to stand down and the military would have made the decision for him by taking over power, ie there would have been a coup.

All the reds cared about was getting the Dems out and getting themselves into power, and anyone who thinks that had the route to achieving that outcome been a coup, that they would have refused accepting power because of their principles and beliefs against such military intervention, is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Sure, the reds are against coups, of course they are... just as long as they feel they aren't the ones getting something out of it. The day they are, it all changes..

Sorry for sounding personal, but I guess that makes you a... well, I can't use language that strong on here.

Taunting? What?

And maybe they are trying to send a public message rather than making trouble.

Ban the wearing of red in public, but allow the masked people to provoke the red shirts by taunting with these masks ?

Numb nut

As far as I know the white masks are NOT meant to taunt red-shirts. With (insert country)-spring movements white masks are often seen. With the Thai government keeping an eye on those who think differently the mask was also an extra signal in 'trying to protect' from spying eyes. None of this has anything to do with red-shirts.

BTW your comment suggest that red-shirts wearing Thaksin masks might be seen as just taunting others?

The V people were taunting nobody. They were holding what looked to be a peaceful protest. The red thugs were the ones to start throwing things at them. Get your facts straight.

Yellow shirts, Red shirts, thats all normal part of Thai politics now and quite acceptable. However this new act of wearing stupid masks which is only designed to provoke and insult, thus stirring tempers by incitement . Must be stopped before it gets out of hand. Ban the wearing of these masks.

Apart from making more trouble, they have no use whatsoever.

I hope not.

You don't understand GJ. No anti-thaksin protestor is allowed in red shirt territory (including their villages of course). In fact no Democrat meetings are allowed in red areas also.

The areas include all of Isan and parts of the North including Chiang Mai. The sooner we all realise this and wait for the second coming of the 'chosen' one, we can all return to our knitting. smile.pngwink.png

Would you prefer squads of military dragging people off who want to protest? Maybe send them to some camps? See how well it worked for the folk in Cambodia in times past.

If the reds can't take other people having ideas different from theirs then they do not belong in a country which (supposedly) has freedom of expression.

The mask has become a symbol of resistance to a goverrnment which only talks about democracy, talks about transparency and dislikes anyone asking the wrong questions. This 'good news only' government is being questioned.

To say 'stupid masks', 'provoking only' and 'must be stopped' suggest you don't like people speaking out because that only causes problems. Next we'll get into eradicating the opposition for causing problems. Even an old sailor is known to provoke, cause problems and have no use. Should he be stopped as well? rolleyes.gif
