Phuket Visa Run

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Can anyone give me advice on the following?:

I'm in Phuket next month and need to do a visa run while I'm there to get a re-entry stamp for my tourist visa.

First of all - where can I go to do this and how long will it take? I could do with doing it in the quickest time possible. Thanks! :o

You do not make a visa run for a re-entry permit (unless you use that term to mean a trip to immigration). What exactly are you planning to do, and why? Very few people would find a re-entry permit of much use with a tourist visa but they usually only take a few minutes/hours to obtain.

I assume that Turtle wants needs to activate the next entry on his tourist visa.

Why dont you fly to Penang or Singapore? Or take a bus to the Malaysian border? I have no idea how others do it from Phuket but i'd guess these are the usual options. Personally i'd fly. ###### sitting on a bus if you can help it. IMHO, Of course. :D

I think most Phuket guys do visa runs at Ranong.

Ranong is the destination of choice. Four hours there and four back approx. I did one with hubby and eldest child last weekend. We drove our own car, did the visa, had a nice lunch in Ranong and visited the hotsprings. Very laid back. Don't rush Ranong. It is quite a cool place.

if all you need to do is leave the country, options include

airasia to singapore or kuala lumpur, schedule requires an overnight, currently practically free for the tickets as airasia has a sale, but taxes and surcharges sure add up. airasia will not bother to let you know when they change their schedule on a flight that you have a reservation, nor will they be on time, nor will they care if your experience is anything like mine.

visarun companies, about 3, about 1500 baht roundtrip to ranong, incl visa fee, and boat etc. slightly cheaper if you do it yourself by bus, but then will require an overnight. i do not personally go to burma because of politics.

slightly cheaper to malaysia by bus via hadyai, but including waiting will be 24 hour bus trip.
