BANGKOK, June 19 – Thai Airways International (THAI) is revising its travel packages to Japan following the island country's waiving of visa requirements for Thai visitors, a senior executive said today.

Chali Pamornmontri, director of THAI Royal Orchid Holidays, said Thai travellers to Europe have shifted to Japan which can be visited year round, adding that the national flag carrier will give more emphasis on Hokkaido – the newest and recently-launched destination.

The Japanese government has announced visa exemptions for Thai nationals, to be effective soon.

He said the Royal Orchid Holidays will increase tourism packages to Hokkaido where THAI will open a permanent office soon.

Rung-napa Kampaya, managing director of World Pro Travel, predicted more Thai travellers to Japan after visas for short stays in the country are no longer required.

She said tourism agencies in Japan’s major cities are enthusiastic in welcoming Thai visitors. (MCOT online news)
