And yes, he is a friend. He is also an irritating, opinionated, sanctimonious bugger. But still twice the person you are (not weight wise before you retort with another unfunny remark)

IFA, short hand for no mark leech. Making money off the back of others and scurrying down the drains when they get found out.

I just knew there was a reason why he was an obsessed no mark. He's on the run from his past. laugh.png

I've met a few people through this forum and its been good to put a face to the name and get to know them properly.

Regarding the TV parties....I have found people introduce themselves by name.....TV nicks are quickly forgotten as quickly as the knowing grins and the evening's conversation sails around all topics bar anything TV related.

I've yet to meet an idiot at these events I'm happy to report. :)

I would gladly attend a nudist beach outing if there were more TVF females. No offense to many of the hansum men, but you guys just don't do it for me,

i actually thought this would be a fun post to check out... perhaps being a woman, i was foolish enough to think that others would think like me: hey, cool, lets trade meeting virtual people for the first time stories. but instead, it degnerates into a 'i have more money then u' thing?!!... REALLY BOYS, the topic is a cool topic. ive always wondered if people meet up with others on forums, because i do.

from thaivisa, a australian woman with thai parnter had me over in her apt. in krung thep both on my arrival, and on me and my hubby's dept. back to israel... it was one of the best times i had while there as i got to see a different (city) family, mixed , +children (and i havent forgotten her beaurtiful daughter, with the same name as my lovely lhasa) nor the time they took to show us around a bit, and jsut talk, especially it was important for my husband to hear things from other mixed couples (as in israel there were, at the time, very very few). she knows who she is, (very rarely on line now, i suspect busy in her home country with hubby and kids and cat)....

i found one girlfriend with a thai husband living an hour from my house, near where the missiles have been falling for the past year... i found her here on thaivisa funnily enough. we meet up a few times a year, as work and money allow.

a good facebook contact with yet another woman. a wonderful mod who'se encouragement when times were rough helped me for just having a good ear and understanding the problems of thai+farang woman marriages.

packages exchanged with yet another farang woman in korat met through thaivisa.

and many many many years ago, a farang woman and thai man who met on thai visa, and who later helped me find out the whereabouts of a thai man who used to work on our kibbutz, when he was working for some manpower company, and i wanted to send him a care package.

i would love to meet up with many of the farming forum, and with neinke and her dogs (as we have lots in common), oh, i did meet up once with a farang man and his wife who owned goats fairly close to my hsuband's village, but they returned to his home country and sold the goats. not sure we would have been BFF but its always nice to have met them after speaking in a thread. if i dont like someone, i dont have to meet with them.

e visiting, meeting new folks, seeing new things, getting new ideas, sometimes theres a click, sometimes not.

its nice to meet up, like penpals . youre not marrying these people, but its cool to network cause when there are problems sometimes its nice to know someone that u even vaguely know from somewhere.

actually had a plan to meet with someone that had been a tv member (and banned for a while) a few years ago, as she lay dying back in england, but she died before i was able to work out the details (some others did meet with her).

I like this post and I think it points out some of the qualifying factors as to who meets up and who doesn’t. It also points out the human reality which lies behind the online facade.

Age, gender and location seem to play big parts in who is interested in meeting others. I notice I am more open to meeting other farangs and online acquaintances, through TV or my blog, because of where I live. If I were still in Bangkok, surrounded by expats, it would feel like less of a novelty and I might be too busy.

Visitors who only get to Thailand from time to time, may enjoy putting a face to a name as part of their travel itinerary. We entertained one such visitor at our home recently and we were not the only ones he spent time with while traveling around Thailand. We had a great time together.

I have met several women with Thai partners and can see how it could be very important for them to use whatever means available to network and find others they can relate to. I am fascinated by the dynamics of their relationships and my wife gets on well with them too.

My wife and I have met Neinke and her dogs and I am sure you would enjoy their company. Too bad your attempt to get this topic headed down a better path didn’t seem to work.

I find your posts sanctimonious, self-congratulatory and emotionally cold.

Just like your blog.

Your dogs would not like me.

Cheers.

If someone is an absolute jerk on TV, I wouldn’t expect any magical transformation to occur when meeting them in person.
Even if you get on well here, I still think it might be a good idea to start off slowly. Begin with PMs and emails, and the first time you meet, it is often best to choose a place you will be going to anyway, like the mall.
That way if someone is late or you don’t get on all that well it is easy to make excuses and find something else to do, without feeling like you have wasted your time.

jesus its sound like online dating advice

Funny you should say that joe.

that's exactly what I thought the first time he said it.

Another bickering post removed.

There are several of you looking at a holiday, with your ongoing flaming across various threads.

Next petty flame will earn holidays....
