Sometimes, the Freudian slips are the best. Again you have added to my vernacular ... a 'gongradulate'. The 'gong' being euphemistically for an award ... I will use the word gongradulate at all appropriate opportunities ... In the words of Jake ... AnotherOneAmerican
Getting away from my crazy ex despite the threats of lies to the police, family coming to get me, suicide, homicide etc etc. It actually required me to leave the country for a while. Cheers Rsquared. bloody hell, thank you so much, funny how little things can make you feel good about yourself, im just a down to earth working man, some might say im as soft as shit, yes maybe i am, but to be honest i like the jake that i am now, to the jake i was in england, im calmer, i tend not to argue, im not stressing like i used to a bit, i cant put my finger on why this is, but im a better me,, even my kids in england say im different, all i can think of its the way of life, yes things are slower here, when we used to go to eat out, i would say why is my food here and yours isnt,?, my wife used to say are we in a hurry to go somewere? at first i used to look at it through western eyes, are food should come together, but in the big picture does it really matter, if mine comes first she can eat some of mine, or if my wifes comes first ill try hers, its not a big deal, this place could drive you crazy,, but only if you let it, go with the flow, dont try and swim against the tide, go with it, youll find its much easyer, and better for the blood presure, And to you my friend Rsquard, you are allways welcome to drop in, for a bear or 2, im not one for drinking when im on my own but i dont mind a pint or 2 if i had company, ill be home when this is done here, i think it will be about the end of october, i might invite a few friends to come down for christmas,, we could allways go and take a barbi to the beach,,? 1 and a half hours from mine,, beautiful thai beach, no bars, 2 little stalls that sell food and a big aqerium for the kids to look round, so if your up for that, would be good, jake, again thank you for your kind words
pattayadingo
Here? I suppose the best achievement was to go to a town I'd never been before, seeing no white faces, not understanding Thai and yet I managed for 4 years in that area. I made Thai friends and learned a whole new way of life and culture when I moved out into a village. It may not sound much of an achievement, but it felt it at the time in what was an alien world with an alien language, seeing how the Thai people lived through endless power cuts, floods and hand to hand living most days. Great days and a great adventure with memories of friendly, helpful people. The memory of that period and the people will stay with me for a long time.
