According to IQ tests Chinese are smarter but I think Farang have invented many more things than Chinese. many great scientists in the past were also Farang So What do you think?

It's harder benefit from your IQ in China or at least has been in the past which is one reason for the lack of inventions ..... trust the IQ tests everything else is an opinion disputing the facts.

You may get some sceptical and cynical responses to this. My contribution to both is who do you mean by Farang ? Anyone who doesnt look Thai/Indo Chinese ?

Its way too generic in my view. I hate the word because of its laziness.

Well, purely from my own observations, a smart chinese person is smarter than a stupid farang, but, conversely, a smart farang is smarter than a stupid chinese person.

Exceptions may occur of course.

When I first saw the topic I thought - 'Here we go', something for the racists to get their teeth into.

Until I read the description of yourself as a 'Curious Thai Kid'. In which case I believe your question is fair enough. I have often had 'curious Thai kids', like yourself, ask me questions about Christianity.

I first went to HK, Singapore, Malaysia when I was 16 and have been somewhat fascinated with the Chinese since then.

Take a look at this. My favourite historian, Professor Niall Ferguson.

Civilization: Is the West History

In ‘Civilization: Is the West History?’, filmmaker Niall Ferguson asks how the Western civilization, from exhibiting an unpromising outlook in the 15th century, came to dominate the rest of the world; and if the West is about to be overtaken by the rest. This film comprises of a series of six parts and each of the six parts elucidates the main strengths of the West that made it so successful:

Competition: The first part in the series begins in 1420 when England on the eve of the Wars of the Roses seemed quite primitive by contrast to Ming China that had a credible claim to be the most advanced civilization in the world.

Science: The domination of West by East was an alarmingly plausible scenario in 1683, when the Ottoman army laid siege to Vienna, the capital of Europe’s most powerful empire; but Islam was defeated by the help of tact and Science.

Property: This part looks into the reasons as to why North America succeeded while South America for so many centuries lagged behind. It shows how the two had much in common but they differed profoundly on individual property rights, the rule of law and representative government, which eventually made all the difference.

Medicine: The fourth part shows how the French Empire consciously set out to civilize West Africa by improving public health as well as building a modern infrastructure. Yet in other European empires – notably Germany’s in southwest Africa – colonial rule led to genocide.

Consumerism: This part illustrates how the world today is becoming more homogenous and, with increasingly few exceptions, big-name brands dominate main streets, high streets and shopping malls all over the globe.

Work: The sixth element that enabled the West to dominate the rest was the work ethic, which extolled the spirit of Capitalism by working hard, saving, and accumulating capital.

China, does not register high Hong Kong does however higher then other countries. First 5 ranks do go to Asian countries and then European countries like the Netherlands even USA has only a 98 compared to 102 for The Netherlands and 100 for the UK. So it is confirmed the Germans and the Dutch are the master Race in Europe.

Did I understand your implication correctly in your opening that it was only a racist question if asked by a westerner, but is OK to ask if by a Thai? That does seem to be the implication, not trying to put words in your mouth just seeking a clarification.

No. Racism is not exclusive to the West. The poster may have well been Chinese.

The world is changing.

As a young Thai. 'Caught' in the Middle between East Vs West I believed his question to be sincere.

head over to google and type "why are chinese so good in" and "why are casucasian so good in " then look at the amount of autofill choices you have

on a science side, the smarter is the offspring of a chinese and farang.

ultimately it had to boil down to individual. anymore than that are generalisation

Adapting and prospering in the local environment... no contest. Although a lot of folks are 'learning.' The smarter ones um... are more careful about what genetic lines they mix with.

In the modern world, Chinese no contest.

Why would you say that - I'd be interested.

In our family it would be my wife, who is Chinese - she is a lawyer, has an MBA and a PhD . . . I have a lowly MBA . . . but if I had the inclination and time then I cold 'draw parallel' one would think.

An answer to your question: neither . . . it's actually a stupid question and you're lucky you received a few forthright answers instead of just ridicule
