June 27, 201312 yr Interesting. I remember a few years back two neighbouring police forces in England. One chief constable was keen on fitness - recuits were checked for phsical fitness and body mass and serving officers had to maintain fitness levels and bmr. Very nice gym in their rural HQ, and an ex RAF PTI in charge. The chief constable in the neighbouring force didn't share this view and many of their officers looked like PC Plod - short and fat! Yet both were good competent forces, amongst the top ones. In India, the expectation was policemen would be "stout". Recruits were 'fatterned" up. Fat or thin - the job performance ain't gonna change!

July 6, 201312 yr Being fat is a choice, but your at a disadvantage if you have irregular hours (harder to make the right choices if you don't prepare your own food) and hard to exercise. Also if you don't know what kinds of food that are bad for you (education) then its all stacked against you. But if you really want to make a change, its possible for everyone, just not everyone thinks its worth it and will put the effort into it to succeed.
