Indian Man Jumps To His Death From South Pattaya Hotel

Man thought to be of Indian Origin jumps to his death off the roof of a South Pattaya Hotel.

Police Major General Sondaert, the Deputy Commander of Police for Region 2, who was in Pattaya on official business, made his way to the Sawasdee Court Hotel in Soi 10, off Pattaya Second Road after receiving information of a possible suicide which had just taken place at the location. He arrived to find the body of a man who was not carrying any forms of identification but was thought to be of Indian origin. The hotel refused to release any further information about the man. He was thought to have jumped from the top floor and we understand he broke open a fire exit door leading to the roof. Police discovered a pair of men’s shoes by the roof edge thought to belong to the deceased. Police are confident that a third party was not involved in the apparent suicide and are now conducting further investigations into the man to determine a possible motive for the suicide.

Interesting "suicide" article in yesterday's Pattaya Today.

They reckon the suicide rate for farangs in Pattaya has doubled from 1 per month to 2 per month.

They also reckon that the Asia/Pacific region has the highest suiced rate in the world, with Thailand right up there near the top. Suicide is the highest cause of death amongst 20 - 35 year olds.

Food for thought indeed.!

The hotel refused to release further info to who ? The police or just the reporter ?

Many places in Thailand lock the exits (if they even have fire exits). It's to prevent people from skipping out on their rent. Not many of them have any kind of fire-fighting systems installed either.

A lot of people from southern Asian countries (India, Nepal, Thailand, ect) take their shoes off before entering a house/shop. Perhaps this guy decided to remove his shoes before entering the afterlife.

that did make me chuckle!! maybe the real story is that it was a shoe theft that went horribly wrong with the thief leaving the goods behind!! :o

Joking asides, I reckon there has to be more to all of these balcony jumpers than meets the eye!

Is it bad balcony design?

Are they assisted over the balcony?

Is there something in the Pattaya air which causes temporary vertigo coupled with a massive attack of St Vitus' Dance whilst on ones balcony?

Was a second party involved?

Party ? What party ? Did I miss another party ? :o

Methinks the party of the second part is why the party of the first part decided to take a "short drop and a sudden stop" from the rooftop.

A party of the third part may or may not have assisted the party of the first part, at the behest of the party of the second part, with the party of the first part's decision to take that one long step.

How ever, if the party of the third part did assist the party of the first part with a personal introspection into the physics of human flight, it is not likely the party of the third part would have had the party of the first part remove his shoes before his first flight lesson.

Futhermore, the party of the third part would have probably absconded with the shoes of the party of the first part, had that third party been involved.

(In plain english, the guy jumped, probably because of a woman. Or he borrowed money he couldn't repay. It's not likely that a jealous boyfriend/husband or loan shark helped him off the roof).

Partied out yet ?

Yeah, we're a bunch of cruel, heartless S.O.B.'s here, only one person with a good heart (Jai Dee) apparently.

I should change my handle to Jai Raai or Jai Dam :o

Or maybe we are just getting too acclimatized to Thailand, where many people see death as just a way-point on the path to your next re-incarnation (which explains the attitude of some of the drivers around here) :D

Heck of a way to skip out of paying your hotel bill!!!

The forum software is set up to do that. Certain words like "d amn" will come out as ####.

Helps so that mods don't have to scan every post looking for "bad" words, keeping everything more or less "polite" here ! :o

fire exits usually lead down as opposed to up, maybe he thought he was on the ground floor, add some poor lighting, perhaps he thought he was jumping into the pool, that would explain the removal of his shoes....................case solved :o

Obviously he didn't believe in no "sanity clause" either
