where to go to and what is the procedure for obtaining a licence to sell food .

Featured Replies

can anyone advise on the procedure , the requirements and the contacts on where and how to obtain a licence to sell both thai and western food in the pattaya area ?

I think the question should be do you need a licence?

More importantly you do need to know what laws there are about selling food and food hygiene.

Just open up.

Then go bust and blame everyone but yourself for competing in this industry!

Of your paying more than 5000 a month for your premises forget it

If you have a Thai wife/partner just tell them to call City Hall and ask.

You would probably need to register a business with nominated Thai shareholders, specifying business type at a given premises with actual premises owner permission, have a tax ID, then separate licences for food and drink. I think the best place to enquire would be the Municipal offices next to Banglamung police station then once details are known you would need a lawyer to set it all up.

Or just go straight to a lawyer who might know everything that is required.

Perhaps he already has a business and this is just an additional income, times can be bad in Pattaya.

First stop is Pattaya City hall, explain to them what you are doing and where and then depending on the location of your business you will either get licenses there, or Banglamung or to a place just other side of Sukhumvit if you are in Nongprue (it is up a narrow soi just before you come to Soi Wat Thamsamakee if you are heading south on Sukhumvit)

All quite painless once you are in the right office.

You get separate licenses for just about everything but the are seldom over 50 baht each, selling food, selling Thai cigarettes, Selling imported cigarettes, selling Thai whisky, Selling imported whisky, selling Thai beer, selling imported beer etc etc, you get the picture

When you get the licenses best to get them framed or laminated and hang them in a visible location on your premises - saves a lot of grief should you get a "visit".

It amazes me the ammount of people that try to do without, especially when it is cheap and easy, then complain when they fall foul!!
