I'm rebuilding my motor and looking for shops in Thailand that do cylinder boring and honing, CNC work, engine block hot vat and ultrasonic cleaning, sandblasting, powdercoating, cryo treatment preferably in Bangkok.

Posted

There are several streets around Chinatown that seem to focus on recovering used parts. I'm a machining geek and I've watched them bore cylinders, regrind cranks, clean bearings, reface clutches, etc.

For a specific location, I'm worthless. But point your GPS to the alleys around 13 43 59.64 x 100 30 49.46. Close to the Holy Rosary Church for a landmark.

If you don't stumble upon the shop that can do the work, someone there can point you in the right direction.

There is a well equipped machine shop off north of Tiwanon off of Pak Rhet in Si Saman here in Nonthaburi:

<deleted>! Neither of those map links worked properly after a lot of searching mad.gif ..Try this but ignore the directions, just the picture. Christ that didn't work either! Well its a big yellow building and you can see the machines and engines in the front.

If those don't work because of my computer ineptness you can google 307 Pak Kret nonthaburi..

Shame there is no phone # on the front of the shop that worked once before when I recommended a shop but no joy this time. Last time I was there a couple of years ago they were beginning to expand and I had impressed upon them the need to properly clean and prepare parts prior for proper inspection & machining and they were very receptive and good people to work with, got me parts and gaskets for a '69' Yota Crown no one else could or had them made professionally.

I rehabed the head on the car and had to locate my own bead blaster and I used OFF brand oven cleaner to remove all the nasty years of baked on varnish and oils to like new condition before getting it bead blasted. Unfortunately I didn't know when I brought it in that they had no real clue how to properly prepare before working and assembling the head so I had to disassemble it and clean it myself. They were very good otherwise, reasonable and good work as they also had some aluminum work to do on the water jackets and did a good job, I did a lot of work at the time and couldn't find any other shop this well equipped and turned out to be very convenient to me as well.. I brought the head back afterwards to show them the difference and outcome and they were genuinely impressed and appreciated my showing them.

I used another shop for my bead blasting up off of Ramintra (can't recall right now it's name or exact location as it was a bit off the beaten path) but this shop may have those services now, I know they were expanding & I strongly suggested they add a blasting cabinet, industrial parts washer and boiler tank and they seemed to agree so maybe now they have them now. I ended up locating the blasting shop and they primarily do other industrial manufacturing not even automotive which is how it works there and I found them in the yellow pages of all places..If I can recall or find the info on them I'll pass it on but in the mean time check out this other shop first and see what they have for equipment now? Hope that helps some?

Can help with hot vat, shot blasting and powder coat but again not in the same place. ( in fact they have to subcontract the shot blasting). I hope I'm wrong but I think the chance of finding cryogenic treatment is slim unless it is used routinely in other industries.

Also the order of the processes is important.

The old yellow pages as has been said are good.

I have friend who is big into Volvo's he probably knows. I'll ask.

Edit: The shop above is identified on Google maps as "Nontaburi Garage"

^Regards, that is what it said on the Google satellite search too, but strangely that doesn't ring a bell to me and they themselves don't do the repairs but only the machine work, but TiT..

Thank you! The closest place I found cryo treatment was in Mumbai :)

Been down there a few times myself. Always get a tuk tuk from Yaowarat Rd cos I get lost down there.....well, just about everwhere! First time we went we were looking for a shoe wholesalers....but they had moved! The first clue they weren't there any longer was the huge pile of pressure plates dumped on the street out front!
