Is RETIREMENT accepted for being the purpose of requesting this visa from a consulate in the U.S.? Looking at the Portland consulate website seems that I need to be married to a Thai (not) or for owning a condo (don't) or for business or education reasons (don't want). Do I need a Thai bank account for this visa? Thank you very much for any help.

Not normally for multi entry but for single entry it is normally issued with expectation that you will either extend at immigration for retirement or decide you do not want to stay.

I just made a post on your other topic about this.

They will issue the multiple entry non-o. Their have many reports that they do it even though website does not mention it.

Other post has more info.
