Uttaradit Disaster Prevention and Mitigation chief Surachai Tatkiwon added that the local administrative bodies in the nine districts should be on alert for possible incidents.

Although rainfall was measured at only 50-60 millimetres, Surachai said that with the rain forecast to continue until July 14, residents should be on their guard so as to prevent disaster, and members of the public should closely follow the news.

SOUTH CRISIS
Bomb in Yala wounds eight

The Nation

YALA: -- Eight soldiers were slightly injured in a roadside bomb attack in Yala's Raman district on Thursday. The authority suspected the insurgent group led by Saifulloh Balor, which is active in the area, carried out this attack.

Although levels of violence expected to decrease dramatically during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, in line with a promise made during the Thai separatists' peace dialogue, insurgents planted and detonated a homemade bomb to target the teacher protection soldier team as they patrolled the route along the railway in Tambon Balor at about 8am.

The explosion, which left a threemetrewide and 1.5metredeep hole, also damaged the team's GMC truck. The train service from Yala Station to Narathiwat's Sungai Kolok Station was immediately suspended pending investigation.
