Hi Guys,

Just checked prices for London to New York flights and they are showing a whopping 2,200 USD for a return trip of 3 days. I don't think it could be real for a flight which is just 7 hours duration? Maybe I m missing some better way to book for such flight?

What does this have to do with Thailand?

In any case Lhr - JFK is around £400+ depending on airline and offers

400 is fine. But where to get this fare. I checked on Kayak.com and it's quoting more than 1000 at the moment. Flying either July or Next month.

Lol the "secret nuclear" bunker pic! Does make me chuckle every time I see that sign.Typical of Essex no?. With regards to the flight LHR-JFK Expedia do good offers also you can manage flights/times etc before booking. However virgin usually do cheap fly and stay for 3 nights or so. Last time I went with virgin it was aroung £600 inc flights hotel transfer

How about trying a flight plus hotel package, can be cheaper.

Which airlines?

It is high season if you want to go July/August.

You will need to check all the airline's sites and possibly talk to a travel agent to see what is available.

OP may be bumping in to some minimum stay requirement, often six (6) days on many city-pairs; so if your itinerary calls for just three (3) you'll be forced in to Y/B fare.

Also use NYC in the booking engine in order to include JFK, LGA and EWR. So search for LHR-NYC, or even LON-NYC. wink.png

Actually it is "Peak" season from Memorial Day (end May) to Labor Day (beg. Sep.). Low - Shoulder - High - Peak.

The airlines are getting crazier by the day. I have heard with demand going up in the future, it's just going to get higher and higher.10- 20% A year.I'm hoping it's not true.Hold on for A wild ride.

My wife just booked an open jaw flight from JFK to France and back to JFK on BA, changing planes in London. Departing in late August returning in late Sept. RT fare was under $1200. She would have gone in Sept if it was cheaper, but the fares are identical. I don't think that Memorial day/ Labor day are the cutoffs for high vs peak season any more.

Just as you need to include EWR in your search, you also need to include Gatwick. You might also need to spend a Saturday night away. if you don't have any flexibility you may have to pay the higher fare.

I still can't figure out what any of this have to do with Thailand???? You'll get better answers on any of the many travel forums unrelated to THAI Visa.

All depends what side of the pond you come from, the whole world is not governed by USA holidays . The OP is looking for LON-NYC-LON so will be governed by UK holidays/ticketing highs and lows.

I quickly scanned some fares and am fairly certain the OP is indeed encountering a minimum stay requirement. Terms vary by carrier, fare bucket; some require a minimum six (6) day stay, others have terms like:

Minimum stay requirements
TRAVEL FROM LAST INTERNATIONAL STOPOVER MUST COMMENCE NO
EARLIER THAN THE FIRST SUN AFTER DEPARTURE OF THE FIRST
INTERNATIONAL SECTOR.
so it may be possible to fashion a reasonably priced three day itinerary: Fri - Sun, in some cases.
Not meeting a minimum stay forces one to buy up, and pay more.
"Seasons" are determined by individually carriers and can be based on both the destination and the origin. For trans-Atlantic flights in either direction summer is Peak season with most carriers. There are more than one Peak season each year, but generally speaking from the end of May to the beginning of September is Peak season for travel to/from the U.S.A. Also the beginning of December through 1 January (approximately, these vary each year based on the days - typically based on the previous or next Saturday).
