I need to receive text messages (SMS) back from Oz, sent from a company.

Tried this today, and I've received none. My sim is an "AIS freedom" (NOT an "AIS freedom 3G", just the old network).

Any suggestions?

Maybe you cantact AIS or just email them your number to [email protected] to find out is there any bar SMS or filter sms in this number.

I've tried that. spent (wasted?) lots of time with the carrier's call centre. still not working. they say there were no filters on my number.

Maybe the company only sends SMS's to Oz-based numbers/networks; not international numbers/networks because they don't want to pay international SMS charges. Or maybe you have given them the wrong "complete" number. They would need to use 0011+66+your number (minus the leading 0).

The problem seems to be solved:

I'm with 1-2-call. I had a phone number which started with 09. The AIS staff suggested to get an sim with a phone number starting with 08, since the former series (09X) have had networking problems with international sms.

I bought a new sim (08X) and voila, text messages are now coming through.
