BANGKOK: -- Floods continued in the provinces of Chanthaburi, Trat and Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday, affecting hundreds of residents.

Downtown Chanthaburi was submerged in up to a metre of water and authorities warned it would rise further. Schools in flood-hit areas in the province have been ordered shut until Friday as a precaution.

Chatchai Phromlert, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), reported yesterday that more than 1,000 families in Chanthaburi's Muang, Makham, Khlung, Tha Mai, Laem Sing and Kaeng Hang Maew districts were affected and that 200 residents had been evacuated.

In Trat's Muang, Khao Saming and Laem Nhop districts up to 92 homes were hit by as much as 50cm-deep floods, while in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang and Bua Yai districts 465 households had been affected, he said. Water in Nakhon Ratchasima has subsided and the roads are passable, Chatchai added. DDPM officials in the region have been dispatched with tools to speedily drain the floodwater, help the affected residents and assess the damage for compensation, he added.

In Ranong, days of heavy rain caused a metre-deep, 50-metre-long crack on the surface of the still under-construction four-lane Phetch Kasem Highway early yesterday.

There goes the chance of Nakon Ratchasima (Korat), to be the future capital of Thailand, after Bangkok has sunken under water.

Who can believe those EXACT numbers of house/people affected?

I would believe...approximately 90 or 265 but NOT the difinitive numbers!

Like the 2011 floods. No one asked me if I was affected! LOL

is this a forecast what is to come again for all thailand this year?

2 years after the floods -> 0% works done , money spent off course

Don't forget to wear the highest pair of Wellington boots u can find..... sure to be some people electrocuted to death when there is flooding here.

Here's the flooding in my Chiang Mai neighborhood yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg13fNEj_7w&feature=youtu.be

That's a lot of water obviously, but it's not very serious flooding. In Chanthaburi, Trat, etc. many places have a meter and a half of water. We've been bombarded by intense downpours day after day.

In the picture, there are foreigners in provinces. So foreigners are everywhere here in Thailand.

Not floods are everywhere

Time for all vehicles to have navigation lights?

An old rhyme that I learned yonks ago. Green to green, red to red, perfect safety go ahead. Thai version would be red to red, green to green, perfect safety go between.

I Thought that Chiang Mai was to be the next capital, although the same thing happens here !!

Not sure who cares about those fat, sloppy foreign girls, but good footage of the area,

and it's current condition. Drainage is key Thai's, will they ever get it wright?

Most likely not. At least it cleans out the dirty areas,

and we should be grateful for the rain we get.

Drought isn't any fun to deal with either.

Ok, so it isn't a requirement then?

any updates on the flooding in Chantaburi and Trat - I am planning to travel through there on Wed going to Cambodia - has it cleared

Thx
